 Hello  All,

Please  help  me  know  how  to  clean  the  filter  hose  as  mine  is  pretty  much  dirty  and  the  brushes  are  not  that  lengthy  to  clean  the  entire  hose  (ehiem  2217).

Links  of  cleaning  brush/accessories  will  also  be  helpful.

Hi  sujith,  u  can  buy  a  brush  from  any  of  laboratory  equipment  dealer.  Though  the  brush  is  small/of  ideal  size.  It  has  very  long  flexible  handle.  It  is  used  to  clean  puppets  in  labs.  I  don't  kno  how  to  attach  pic  here,  tried  but  it's  showing  low  on  memory.

If  u  still  find  it  short,  then  try  cleaning  from  both  ends.

Or  you  can  stuff  a  piece   of   filter  cotton   in  one  end  and  pressure   it  with  water  which  will  clean  out  the  pipe
try  it  out  because   I   use  the  same   technique   and   it  works   Thumb Up

Tie  a  small  piece  of  sponge  to  end  of  a  guitar  string  (Use  the  thicker  E  string)  using  rubber  band  and  use  it  to  clean  hoses.
Make  sure  the  sponge  is  much  smaller  than  the  dia  of  the  pipe.

Use  insulated  electrical  hard  wire  (like  polycab  etc)  and  select  the  thickness  as  per  your  hose  diameter,  which  is  easily  go  through  the  hose.  Insert  it  into  the  hose  from  one  end  and   push  it  in  to  hose  until  you  would  get  head  of  the  wire  from  other  end  of  the  hose.  Tie  the  small  piece  of  cotton  or  filter  foam  (cut  proper  sized  foam  which  is  properly  rub  the  inner  side  of  the  hose).  and  slowly  pull  the  wire  from  stating  end.  repeat  it  2  to  3  times.  In  between  pass  the  water  from  it  to  washout  removed  dirt.  It  will  clean  all  dirt  from  the  hose.

 Regards,

 Nimish

If  you  really  feel  difficult  in  above  the  another  best  method  is  get  hydrogen  peroxide  from  medical  store,  hold  your  both  tube  end  in  same  position  and  pour  hydrogen  peroxide  inside  tube  leave  it  for  just  2-5  min  and  wash  it,  it  will  look  like  new   Smile

I  use  the  "wire  pulling  spring"  to  clean  the  hose.  Tie  a  small  piece  of  cloth  at  the  end  of  the  spring  in  such  a  way  that  it  fits  the  diameter  of  the  pipe  exactly.

The  "wire  pulling  spring",  is  used  by  the  electricians  to  pull  the  wires  when  a  new  home  is  constructed.  It  is  also  used  to  hang  the  curtains  in  older  days.
