Hello  guys  I  was  just  reading  thorough  a  couple  of  forums  and  just  got  to  know  that  ppl  dose  liquid  carbon  when  lights  are  off  so  that  it  becomes  available  when  lights  come  on
Is  this  right  as  according  to  me  I  don't  feel  its  right
But  I  would  like  to  see  if  there  is  any  logical  reason  as  to  why  they  do  it

Dear  All,  even  I  have  a  similar  doubt,  somewhere  I  read  that  Macro  Vs  Micro.  One  should  be  dosed  in  the  night  after  light  OFF  and  another  in  the  next  day  morning  before  light  ON.

Is  there  any  reason  behind  it  or  can  we  dose  both  together  at  the  same  time  in  the  night  after  light  OFF.

 Please  clarify.

 Thanks,
 Mohan

 Hi  Nik

Its  not  about  sorry  or  showing  disrespect.  But  why  your  confusing  your  self.  As  everyone  has  different  dosing  ideas  and  u  cant  apply  all  in  your  tank.
 Thats  a  suggestion.
 Thanks
 Nilesh

 Hi  Nik,

What  you  heard  is  right  whether  it's  liquid  or  pressurized  co2  they  start  dosing  before  1-2  hours  before  light  comes  up,  the  reason  behind  that  is  plants  live  healthy  mainly  by  photosynthesis,  for  that  they  require  co2  and  light  source  so  whenever  your  light  comes  up  plants  will  start  to  photosynthesis  so  when  you  start  adding  your  co2  before  1  or  2  hours  your  water  column  will  have  distributed  co2  ready  for  them  to  uptake  co2,  when  you  follow  this  method  switch  off  your  co2  1  hour  before  your  light  goes  off.  Best  method  i  came  across  and  following  this  for  around  2  years  now.

there  are  plenty  of  methods  to  dose  your  tank  EI,  PPS,  PMDD,The  difference  in  this  method  are  in  EI  you  dose  more  fert  than  your  plant  require  so  to  reset  the  water  column  you  need  to  do  50%  water  change  on  7th  day,  pps  and  pmdd  you  dose  what  your  plant  requires  so  no  need  to  do  water  changes  every  week,  so  you  decide  which  suits  your  need  if  you  make  solution  then  make  separate  for  macros  and  micros  that's  it.  it's  always  best  to  add  your  fert  before  light  comes  up.mostly  your  plant  takes  food  at  the  time  of  photosynthesis.  below  are  some  links  about  planted  tank  it  might  help  you  in  some  way.

about  dosing  Tom  barr  had  given  some  good  explanation  in  below  thread.

You  can  dose  Macro  fertilizers  any  time  of  the  day.  it  really  does  not  matter.

Micro  are  usually  found  as  chelates  of  iron.  These  decompose  on  exposure  to  light,  and  will  not  be  absorbed  by  plants  if  they  decompose,  hence  adding  them  after  lights  out  is  recommended.  Even  when  you  store  it  it  has  to  be  kept  in  a  dark  container.
