Eheim  filters  are  the  best,   Some  filters  come  with  warranty  some  without.   The  ones  with  warranty  need  to  be  shipped  to  the  manufacturer  for  rectifying  defects,  which  is  practically  impossible  in  India.  so  look  at  the  availability  and  price  of  spares  such  as  O  rings,  impellers  and  shafts  that  are  the  stuff  that  usually  fail.

I  got  a  Sunsun  filter,  It  started  leaking  after  8  months,  I  changes  the  O  rings,  it  works  fine  now.  So  keep  all  this  stuff  in  mind  while  buying  a  filter.

2217  wont  be  little  smaller  for  this  size  ?

Dophin  c1600  would  be  decent  I  guess.

 Dear  friend,

You  asked  this  question  at  the  right  time...As  you  can  see  above  I  asked  this  same  question  and  I  bought  Dophin  C1600  eventhough  i  knew  it  would  be  not  top  quality  but  went  ahead  for  the  price...  Man  im  telling  you  its  the  worst  filter  ...its  cheap..chinese  product  and  the  main  fault  of  this  filter  is  its  a  "By-pass"  filter.  which  means  the  water  not  only  flow  through  the  media  baskets  from  bottom  to  top  but  it  also  flow  through  the  sides  of  the  canister  because  there  is  a  huge  gap  in  the  sides  of  the  tray  and  it  mixes  with  the  filtered  water  in  the  top...this  means  its  not  a  100%  filter  at  all..when  the  media  gets  clogged  it  directly  by  passes  and  flow  via  sides..The  top  tray  which  is  pressurized  by  the  motor  has  visible  gaps  in  which  the  poop  can  easily  come  out  from  bottom...i  got  fish  poops  on  the  sides  of  the  motor  unit  as  close  to  the  impeller  when  cleaning..

my  tank  was  never  clean  after  1  month..its  light  brownish  because  the  poop  water  from  the  bottom  directly  mixes  to  the  top  filtered  area  from  the  sides..so  this  is  not  a  filter  at  all...its  a  serious  design  flaw...but  the  manufacturer  do  this  intentioanlly  to  have  a  consistent  flow  rate  whether  its  filtered  or  not...thats  plain  stupid...we  use  a  filter  for  clean  water  quality  without  compromise...The  filter  comes  with  one  coarse  sponge  and  1  filter  floss(wool)  in  one  tray..both  of  them  are  utter  cheap  quality...activated  carbon  pack  and  ceramic  rings  are  on  other  trays...those  are  really  worst  quality  the  carbon  leeches  black  color  and  the  ceramic  rings  leeches  white  color  in  the  tank  every  time  i  change  new  water...

After  researching  only  i  came  to  know  that  Eheim  2217  is  the  only  zero-bypass  filter...which  means  the  inlet  tube  is  at  bottom  and  the  water  flows  through  all  the  media  one  by  one  and  there  is  no  way  to  bypass  like  side  flowing...the  flow  may  be  little  slow  because  it  goes  one  by  one  thru  all  media  but  its  the  best,.and  the  water  will  always  be  100%  clean...you  can  get  a  powerhead  to  increase  the  flow  if  youre  not  satisfied  with  the  flow  ...

Please  dont  make  the  same  mistake  as  me..just  get  eheim  2217  ..its  10.500  in  indianaquarium  website

 http://www.indianaquarium.com/Filters/Eheim-Classic-600-External-Canister-Filter---2217-id-2069947.html

or  Hydor  professional  450..Its  also  zero  bypass  filter..its  in  amazon  for  13k...

 http://www.amazon.in/Hydor-Proffessional-External-Filter-300-450/dp/B00WA0MRRM/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1479806340&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=hydor+professional+450

some  reviews  say  hydor  is  bit  noisy  compared  to  eheim  and  some  parts  are  cheap  plastic...It  also  has  trays  like  c1600  but  the  tray  dont  have  gaps  on  the  sides  which  makes  it  zero  bypass..its  japanese  made...

But  In  my  opinion  canister  are  one  time  buy  so  go  for  the  highest  quality..Eheims  are  German  made...many  professionals  swear  its  the  best  filter  ever  made  and  they  dont  give  problems  even  after  20  years...So  choose  wisely..get  a  eheim  2217  and  a  powerhead..problem  solved  for  lifetime..no  after  gripes...

I  know  all  this  because  I  researched  for  almost  2  months  after  my  mistake...now  im  doing  DIY  work  like  putting  sponges  on  the  side  of  the  trays  to  prevent  poop  water  going  up..but  its  unnecessary  work..google  more  for  the  zero  bypass  filters  and  you  know  what  im  talking  about...let  me  know  if  you  have  any  questions...

Below  is  the  post  i  asked  in  someother  forum  on  this  issue...
