Here  is  a  pic  of  the  PLL.  You  can  pick  it  up  from  any  decent  sized  electrical  shop  on  BVK  Iyengar  road.
I  picked  it  up  from  JP  lighting.  Its  goes  for  Rs.150/-  MRP.

 Hi  Harshal
I  have  2  PL36  tubes  in  my  hood  but  i  threw  the  cartons  away  (The  made  in  Poland  tubes)  Unfortunately  on  checking  out  the  Philips  site,  i  see  these  tubes  are  only  4000  K  or  something  although  the  light  intensity  and  color  is  comparable  to  a  Philips  trulite.
Are  you  sure  the  Philips  PL36  tubes  are  6500  K  ?

Where  do  we  get  these  Samson  PL36  tubes  ?

 Regards
 Soumi

 Hey,
Has  have  any  one  compared  the  results  of  philips  Cool  /  Warm  white  Day  light  vs  Osram's  Gro-Lux.  I  was  going  through  the  web  site  and  he  talks  about  the  Gro-lux  more  power  /  money  effitient  and  more  value  add  for  money  than  even  MH's  compared  to  the  initial  set  up  power  consumed   costs.

 http://www.aquabotanic.com/lightcompare.htm

Also  folks  who  have  been  using  Osram  /  Philips  tubes  /  MH  can  you  please   populate  the  specs  of  the  tubes  in  terms  of  CRI,  Kelvin,  Lux,  PUR  (Photosynthetic  Usable  Radiation),  PAR  (Photosynthetic  Active  Radiation)approx  money  on  setup,  This  can  also  serve  as  a  good  collection  of  data,  So  that  at  a  later  point  of  time,  One  can  look  at  what  he  gets  from  the  money  that  he  has  paid  and  can  look  at  better  options  if  any  than  what  he  is  using.

We  know  that  in  our  planted  aquaria,  After  all  the  factor  which  is  harsh  on  our  pockets  are  the  lightling  equipments.

 HI  Raghu  V,
   Yeh!!!!!!
But  it  does  not  carry  info  on  the  tubes  and  PLL's.

What  i  am  looking  at  is  by  tabulating  this  by  which  one  can  look  beyond  just  the  N  Watt  /  Per  Gallon  calculations  and  save  a  lot  of  money  in  their  hobby  at  least  from  a  lighting  perspective.

 Harshal
You  are  correct,  the  PLL36W/865  are  6500  K  but  only  2900  lum  ...  compare  that  with  a  Philips  Trulite  which  is  6500K  and  6500  lum  ...  i  think  still  the  best  bet  of  all  the  lamps.

If  im  not  mistaken  gro-lux  was  initially  owned  by  sylvania  and  is  now  taken  over  by  havells?

Or  has  osram  bought  it  over  now?

Do  you  know  any  vendor  that  sells  Gro-lux  in  india,  specifically  mumbai?

 Thanks

 Hi,

Was  passing  BVK  Iyengar  road  and  hence  checked  Vinayaka  Enterprises  for  Osram  8000K  T8  in  2  feet.
Would  like  to  update  all  that  they  do  not  have  these  in  2  feet,  but  in  4  feet  they  have  stock.

Any  ideas  if  Metro  has  the  2  feet  variant?

 thanks,
 Bhargav

 Hi  Bhargav

Osram  does  not  make  these  in  2  ft  size  in  india.  It  will  have  to  be  imported  from  europe.

These  two  -  T5  and  T8  you  mention  are  the  common  size  diameter  of  the  tubes  which  are  locally  available.

A  T5  is  five  eights  (5/8  )  of  an  inch  diameter  tube  and  is  much  slimmer  than  a  T8.

A  T8  is  eight  eights  (8/8  )  of  an  inch.  That  means  a  tube  of  one  inch  diameter.

You  have  to  check  other  parameters  to  judge  and  compare  a  tube.
