I  would  like  to  know  what  you  think  is  the  best  light  option  for  a  32-gallon  planted  tank.  I  am  currently  using  the  SL1000  from  sunsun  and  it  does  not  reach  the  bottom.  My  aquarium  dimensions  are  36L  x  18H  x  11.5W.  There  are  some  brown  algae  accumulating  on  plants  which  I  clean  up  in  two  or  three  days.  I  am  dousing  the  plants  with  "Seachem  Flourish"  and  it  seems  to  work  but  the  algae  also  seem  to  enjoy  it  too.

 Please  advice.

 Currently,  I  am  pondering  on
Finnex  Planted+  24/7  Fully  Automated  Aquarium  LED,  Controller,  36  Inch

This  has  no  warranty  in  India  though  and  I  am  buying  this  from  Amazon.  Other  options  include  Aqueon,  Beamswork,  and  Fluval.

 Welcome  darkrecital  to  IAH!  Drinking

Please  note  Seachem  Flourish  and  Flourish  Excel  are  two  different  products.  Flourish  is  just  nutrients  while  Flourish  excel  is  an  organic  carbon  source.  Flourish  Excel  is  the  product  that  harms  algae,  not  Flourish  .

 Do  you  have  pressurized  CO2?

SL1000  looks  to  be  quite  underpowered  to  grow  anything  but  the  low  light  plants.  The  usual  suspects  when  it  comes  to  low  light  plants,  anubias,  valls  and  moss  all  are  harmed  if  you  dose  Flourish  Excel,  just  so  you  know

Also,  what  plants  do  you  plant  to  grow?  The  finnex  is  highly  potent,  if  your  tank  specs  aren't  balanced  and  proper  you'll  be  looking  to  grow  loads  of  algae  with  this  light.

 Thanks  Ashwin.

Currently,  I  don't  have  any  CO2  in  my  tank.  I  will  buy  in  the  coming  months  but  since  it  is  very  expensive,  I  am  currently  opting  for  plants  with  low  requirement.

Thank  you  for  making  the  difference  between  Flourish  and  Flourish  excel  much  more  clear.  I  douse  Flourish  mostly  and  use  excel  during  water  changes.  Use  prime  first  then  use  excel  a  bit  later.

Also,  I  am  from  Gurgaon  and  the  water  is  very  hard  or  else  I  would  have  opted  for  shrimps  to  lessen  algae.

What  plants  are  you  growing  right  now  and  what  is  your  substrate?

You  should  invert  your  dosing  regimen.  Dose  Excel  daily  or  every  two  days  and  Flourish  weekly.

I  would  suggest  investing  in  a  CO2  system  rather  than  a  fancy  LED  system.  Lighting  can  be  had  for  very  cheap  these  days,  I  feel  very  soon  LED  products  that  cost  8k-10k  today  will  be  replaced  by  units  under  2k  in  the  coming  months.  I  would  not  suggest  you  to  go  for  such  a  costly  light  on  what  I  think  is  low  tech  tank.

I  understand  that.  THen  I  think  I  need  to  see  which  Co2  system  is  the  best.
Do  I  need  to  look  for  something  with  a  solenoid  valve  only?
I  have  these  plants  Bacopa,  cabomba  caroliniana,  Echinodorus  grisebachii,  Hygrophila  corymbosa,  Microsorum  Pteropus,  Salvinia  minima  and  Amazon  sword  plant  along  with  4  otos,  4  panda  corys,  2  assassin  snails,  2  kuhli  loaches  and  8  neon  tetras.

Iam  using  amazonia  +  Aqua  clay  soil  which  I  got  from  here:  Indian  aquariumIndian  Aquarium

CO2  required.  do  a  diy  co2  and  get  good  results.  the  cheapest  co2  is  sugar  &  yeast.  2  cups  of  sugar  and  20grams  of  yeast  in  1.5  liter  water.  use  thumsup  bottle  Smile  .  attach  a  pipe  to  the  lid  with  fevikwik  or  emseal.  put  a  small  controller  and  put  another  pipe  in  tank.  at  the  open  end  inside  of  tank  insert  a  small  piece  of  broom  stick  sliced  with  blade.

Drinking  enjoy  co2  for  20  days

CO2  would  be  a  welcome  addition  to  your  tank,  however  I  think  you  do  not  have  fast  growing  plants.  If  you  do  plan  on  getting  a  pressurized  system,  then  you  can  get  more  powerful  lights,  which  in  turn  would  mean  faster  plant  growth,  but  if  there's  no  fast  growing  plant  to  make  use  of  the  nutrients,  algae  will  thrive.  Microswords  or  dwarf  Saggs  will  be  good  to  fill  such  a  void.

Solenoid  makes  life  much  easier,  but  you  can  have  a  system  without  it  as  well

Thank  you  guys!  I  know  what  to  do  now.  It  is  great  to  finally  get  guidance  on  these  things.

@garothmann  I  have  seen  the  videos  of  DIY  CO2  by  King  of  DIY,  will  give  it  a  try  now.
   Rock On
