 I  have  a  3.5ft   X  18  inch  X  15  inch  fresh  water  aquarium.  I  have  3  goldfish  ,  2  silver  sharks  ,  a  a  dozen  guppies.
Now  my  gold  fish  and  guppies  are  taking  readymade  foods  which  floats  in  the  water.  But  my  2  sharks  are  not  taking  floating  foods.  Can  anyone  suggest  me  how  to  feed  them.  Is  any  readymade  foods  available  in  the  market  which  sinks  ,  so  that  my  sharks  can  have  them.  I  am  little  afraid  of  giving  live  foods.
 I  am  from  Kolkata

Please  read  few  articles  on  the  net  about  fish  compatibility.....

Or  even  you  have  lot  of  information  here  on  IAH  about  compatibility  of  fishes.....

IMO  the  three  varieties  of  fish  you  have  will  never  go  together  in  the  long  run.....

You  got  to  go  this  way.........

 1.  Gain  some  knowledge  on  fish  compatibility......

 2.  Decide  the  fish  community....

 3.  Then  go  for  a  tank  of  size  that  suits  your  fish  community....

 4.  Finally  decorate  the  tank  with  decors  according  to  thier  requirements.....

This  may  be  of  help  to  you..

 subhen,
apart  from  the  compatibility  issue  I  would  like  to  give  you  a  rough  idea  of  how  a  fish  feeds,
the  fish  that  have  upturned  mouths  (superior  mouth)  like  live  bearers  -  molly,  platy,  guppy,  etc.  are  surface  feeders.
the  fish  that  have  a  centrally  located  mouth  like  the  one  you  mention  -  silver  shark,  discus  etc.  will  accept  food  in  the  mid  level  of  the  tank.
the  fish  that  have  a  mouth  located  downwards  (inferior  mouth)  like  catfish,  loaches,  etc.  will  feed  from  the  substrate.
Now,  aquarium  fish  have  been  bred  for  generations  together  in  captive  environments  so  most  fish  have  lost  the  natural  behavioural  pattern  and  have  adapted  themselves  to  feeding  most  aquarium  feeds.
But,  if  you  attempt  to  keep  and  condition  a  wild  caught  fish  -  they  strictly  follow  their  wild  behaviour  and  even  starve  to  death  if  not  fed  the  right  food!
 HTH

There  is  some  sense  in  the  comptibility  issue, the  guppies  and  gold  fish  are  dominating  your  sharks.Try  dry  or  live  tubifex  worms  or  tetra  bits, which  are  xpensive  though. If  u  enquire  at  your  LFS  he  will  guide  very  happily:-)

Thanks  all  of  you  for  the  answers.  BUT  MY  LOCAL  FISH  SHOP  (LFS)  guided  me  to  set  up  the  aquarium.
I  had  3  goldfishes.  He  told  me  to  keep  silver  shark  and  the  guppies.  Now  what  should  i  do?  How  to  manage  their  feeding.  Yesterday  ,  i  tried  with  dried  bloodworms.  One  of  the  shark  ate  something  which  came  down.  Other  didnt  ate  anything.  Please  help  me.  Will  I  try  to  return  the  sharks?  If  so  ,  what  can  I  keep  then?

 Hi
How  old  is  your  tank,  silver  shark  or  bala  shark  are  compatible  with  most  fishes  tend  to  grow  very  large.
Also  they  are  a  little  shy  in  a  new  tank,  it  will  take  them  some  time  to  adjust  and  start  eating,  my  bala  sharks  took  nearly  a  week  to  start  eating.
BTW  a  goldfish  tank  has  no  place  for  guppies,  goldfish  do  best  with  other  goldfish,  there  are  a  lots  of  varities  of  goldfishes.
Black  moor,  oranda,  red  cap  oranda,  shubunkin,  fantail  goldfish,  pearlscale  etc.

If  they  do  not  over  a  period  of  time  say,3-4  days, its  better  you  return  them  back  as  they  could  be  diseased  too  and  could  affect  everyone. This  is  just  an  assumption  though  but  why  take  chances
