 Hi.
as  far  as  i  know  u  should  do  water  changes  of  atleast  50%  every  week  and  add  a  very  good  filter  to  your  tank.Pl  consider  ehiem  2217,Atman  Ef-4,or  acquaclear  500  in  the  same  order  of  priority.U  can  probably  do  2  water  changes  of  25%  each  weekly.your  fish  may  outgrow  your  tank  soon.Texas  may  dominate  others  especially  if  u  have  a  pair.Oscars  are  not  that  aggressive. But  even  then  if  they  spawn  u  have  to  keep  an  eye  on  them. If  u  are  using  tap  water, either  collect  it  and  areate  it  for  atleast  48  hrs  before  doing  a  water  change  or  get  come  good  water  conditioner  like  amolock, stresscoat.tetras'acquasafe  etc  and  add  during  water  change  in  proportion  to  replaced  water.Feed  them  beefheart, prawns, marinefish  meet  etc  and  some  good  pellet  feed. All  urs  are  messy  eaters.During  water  changes  syphon  gravel.Dont  use  UG  filters.
U  will  get  more  advice  from  the  senior  members.  All  the  best.

 Welcome  Ajith,
You  will  need  a  very  good  filter  with  the  fish  you  have.Change  at  least  30%  of  the  water  weekly. If  you  look  on  the  net  you  will  be  able  to  find  what  other  fish  you  have,  there  are  a  lot  of  good  cichlid  sites  with  good  pictures  for  you  to  identify  your  fish.  What  are  you  feeding  them?

 Hey

5  ft  is  not  very  clear  dimention.  Not  very  clear  on  your  tank  capacity,  If  its  60G.

Then  shortly  you  might  see  a  overcrowding  problem  casue  of  Oscars.

Also  note  that  with  oscars,  You  certainly  need  a  powerful  filter.

As  long  as  you  have  a  very  gud  filter  you  can  do  25-30%  water  changes  Smile  ...  And  ya  the  tank  may  become  overcrowded  in  a  while...

 Hey  Ajit.....
Gold  feeders  are  really  bad  food  for  Oscars.  Give  them  Beef  heart   /  Pellets.  They  will  Njoy.

There  are  several  reasons  to  aviod  feeding  glodies  to  oscars.

Check  out  other  mail  threads  for  more  info.
