Yes,  you  cannot  escape.  Very Happy  the  older  you  get  the  more  difficult  it  will  be.  A  planted  tank  will  help  drop  your  blood  pressure  and  you  save  on  medical  bills.  Start  early  on  your  voyage  into  planted  tanks.  Thumb Up

You  planted  guys  have  finally  given  me  enough  encouragement  to  start  another  planted  tank.
I  started  with  a  5  footer  at  my  place,  medium  lighting  with  no  co2  or  ferts.
 Here's  one  of  its  pics:

Your  tank  'Amod'  too  looks  great.
The  brilliant  green  is  something  unique  to  Mayurs  tank.  He  has  a  secret  formula  of  PMDD  culled  from  the  wisdom  of  several  planters.
In  most  tanks  Co2  is  the  limiting  factor.
Within  a  few  hours  of  the  introduction  of  pressurized  Co2  you  will  see  the  difference  in  the  plants.
Remember  the  main  factors   for  optimum  growth  and  photosynthes  is  -  light  the  obivious  factor  ,  carbon  dioxide  levels,  temperature  and  nutrient  availability.
All  have  to  be  increased  in  proportion  to  the  right  level.  You  cannot  increase(or  decrease)  just  one  or  two  factors  and  hope  to  make  a  major  difference.
All  the  best.  Thumb Up  Have  fun.  Smile

Okay,  watching  all  the  planted  tanks,  enthused,  I  decided  to  start  one  of  my  own.

I  started  with  re-doing  my  aquarium,  getting  the  right  substrate.
Now  to  the  plants,  I  have  no  clue  how  you  guys  call  yourself  newbies,  beautiful  tanks  those.

 My  tank  is  a  30X15X18
 Substrate  -  Laterite  -  1inch  base
Layer  2-  River  sand  -  coarse  gravel  1.5inch
 Layer  3  -  fine-semi  fine  sand  -  .5  inch

This  was  done  yesterday.  I've  filled  in  water,  it's  still  cloudy.
since,  a  restart,  i'd  be  doing  a  fishless  cycle.  In  this  period,  when  I  do  the  water  changes,  I  intend  to  put  in  the  plants.

Now  coming  to  the  plants,  please  do  suggest  the  ideal  starter  set  of  plants.
What  number,  placement,  Names  -  preferrably  common  names.

This  is  specifically  for  my  neons

 Regards,
 Rahul
