 Hi  Friends  ,
This  is  regarding  My  Beautiful  Oscar  Died  Today,  I  Do  Not  Know  the  reason  Behind  Its  Death  ,  But  I  did  See  that  it  is  going  to  die  Soon.  it  Looked  in  a  terrible  Shape  ,  Its  Fins  and  Colors  all  Torn  Off  .  It  was  ever   Hit  by  anyother  Fish  ,  that's  Why  i  Thought  there  must  be  Two  ways  for  its  death

 Either

 the  water  Must  be  bad
Reason  ,  (  A  Black  Gold  In  my  Bowl  also  Died  recently  in  similar  State  )

 or

the  Particular  Fish  Must  be  Diseased
Reason  (  Both  Fishes  Not  Hurt  by  anyother  Fish.  And  i  have  one  more  Oscar  though  it  has  one  or  two  scars  it  is  very  much  active  i.e  it  always  jumps  from  tank  to  get  food  whenever  i  go  for  feeding  )

Please  Suggest  &  Advice  Me  What  must  have  been  the  problem  for  death  .So  that  i  can  prevent  my  other  fishes  from  it

 Raghav
A  lot  of  your  answers  have  already  been  answered  in  your  previous  posts.
No  goldfish  can  hope  to  live  in  a  bowl.
An  adult  oscar  of  this  size  need  a  50  gallon  that  is  3  ftX1.5ftX1.5ft,  and  a  very  powerfull  filter  to  match.  also  it  needs  a  tank  of  that  size  all  by  itself,  a  pair  of  ascars  is  never  a  good  idea,  unless  they  have  grown  up  togather  and  are  a  pair.  The  bigger  one  one  will  always  bully  the  smaller  one.
Please  go  through  older  posts  on  your  questions,  they  give  answers  to  all  your  questions.
Also  post  details  of  your  tank  in  which  you  have  this  oscar.
Reduce  your  fishes,  allow  your  tank  to  complete  nitrogen  cycle.  Stock  slowly,  keep  compatbile  fishes  only.

 hey  Raghav!!!
Whats  the  temp  of  your  tank.  Can  you  post  a  pic  head  on  of  the  oscar.  Oscars  are  more  prone  to  a  disease  called  HITH,  More  or  less  May  be  fin  rot  might  be  the  case  here.  An  enlarged  picture  would  confirm.

Note  that  Fin  rot  begins  with  a  slight  discoloration  of  the  edges  of  the  fins,   As  the  disease  progresses,  the  fins  begin  to  fray.  The  deterioration  continues,  resulting  in  only  remains  of  the  fins.

Several  bacteria  cause  Fin  Rot  in  fishes,  namely  "Pseudomonas  Flourescens",  "Aeromonas  Sp".  and  "Haemophilus  Piscium".

I  would  start  with  Melafix,  And  would  aeriate  the  tank  more  and  would  do   2  days  once  a  water  change  and  an  increase  in  temp  to  28  deg.

If  the  disease  is  too  much  i  would  go  with  Metrodianozole  or  flagyl.

thanks  for  your  reply  Pro  ,  but  the  gold  Fishes  were  very  small  only  Slightly  Bigger  than  the  feeding  fishes  ,  my  Tank  is  a  3  Feet  one  ,  this  Oscar  measures  only  3-4  inches  ,  the  other  one  is  5-6  Inches  ,  i  have  a  Power  Filter  .May  be  you  are  right  with  reducing  the  Fishes  quantity  ,  i  have  a  6-7  inch  &  4  inch  FH  in  the  same  tank  and  some  average  size  chichilds  .  and  regarding  the  bowl  ,  i  am  going  to  give  it  away  to  my  cousin  for  his  birthday.

Should  i  reduce  the  Fishes  in  my  tank  Now  ?

 Raghav,
Also  do  not  rule  out  the  reason  for  death  being  a  bad  fight.  Was  this  fish  trying  to  hide  itself  in  the  top  corners  ?  Sometimes  these  fishes  have  bad  arguments  which  gets  settled  in  less  then  5  mins.  I  lost  my  biggest  orange  peacock  over  the  weekend,  I  never  saw  it  getting  beaten  up,  on  the  contrary,  I  had  seen  it  healthy  before  just  a  couple  of  hours.  It  died  within  a  day  after  I  quarantined  it.  The  fish  had  damaged  fins,  missing  scales  and  a  scar  in  one  of  its  gills.

 Raghav,

Sorry  to  hear  about  your  loss  !
It's  neither  water  nor  disease  that  killed  your  fish.
It's  your  wrong  combination  of  fish  that  killed  it  !!
As  an  immediate  step  separate  that  Flowerhorn  rightaway,  else  either  the  flowerhorn  or  the  surviving  oscar  would  die  anytime.

I  dont  really  see  the  need  for  a  heater  going  by  Chennai's  temperature  unless  you  are  treating  your  fish  for  ich  or  something.  However,  please  donot  consider  pouring  hot  water,  get  yourself  a  thermostat  controlled  aquarium  heater  instead.

 All  the  best.

Going  by  my  experience  of  keeping  Oscars,  your  fish  simply  died  because  he  had  some  sorta  internal  infection  (  i  see  all  the  fins  clamped  in  the  pic)  which  went  un-noticed  or  he  was  badly  (Real  badly)  beaten  up  by  other  fishes  in  that  small  tank  of  yours  (what  with  having  2  FH's  in  the  same  tank  too).

Believe  me  my  friend,  keeping  cichlids  aint  that  easy  as  u  think  cause  they  die  so  quick  and  so  suddenly  you  wont  understand  what  happened.  Again  to  pump  you  up  with  some  more  advise,  keep  one  single  fish  in  that  tank  of  yours,  either  a  FH,or  a  Oscar  or  the  average  sized  OTHER  cichlids  you  have  in  that  tank.............choice  is  yours.   Cheer Up

Oscars  and  Flowerhorns  -  A  strict  No  No,  unless  they  have  grown  up  together  from  juvenile  stage.  A  wrong  combination  of  fishes  has  led  to  the  tragedy.
 Not  water  or  disease.

 Raghav
Size  of  a  fish  has  got  nothing  to  do  with  its  aggression.  A  much  smaller  prihana  can  beat  up  fishes  much  larger  than  itself.
No   medicine  will  work  unless  the  issue  of  basic  agggression  is  dealth  with.  either  seperate  the  tank  into  two  or  transfer  all  other  fishes  into  seperate  buckets.
As  long  as  injured  fish  remains  with  other  fishes  it  will  get  harresed.
When  it  gets  a  tank  of  its  own,  simple  water  changes  and  good  diet  will  help  it  improve  its  health.

THANKS  FOR  THE  SUGGESTION  ,  I  HAVE  MOVED  THE  OSCAR  TO  A  BUCKET  INSTEAD  AND  BOUGHT  A  ANTI  ICH  MEDICINE  AND  POURED  FEW  DROPS  ON  IT  .  IS  IT  OK  FOR  NOW  ,  OR  WHAT  MORE  SHOULD  I  DO  ,  PLEASE  ADVISE

 THANKS

 Proper  areation  will  help.
