My name is Venkateswaran residing in Bangalore. Been in this hobby for the last 5 yrs.
Two months back started off with a planted tank with DIY Co2. I have been pretty successful, all thanks to this site.
As on date have a Goldfish pond, a tetra tank, a small community tank and 2 planted tanks.
I am not an active member on this site, thats cause of spending very limited time online BUT in the same breath am immensely thankful to all the other active menbers who have shared their ideas on this forum.

I'm Aditi, A Civil Engineer based at Kolkata. It was actually my son's wish to have an aqurium. So I decided to present him one as his 5th birthday gift and now I'm in love with planted tanks . I have only one tank (42"l x 10"w x 15"h) running 5 months with a very low technology. some amazon, bacopa, valls, crypt, pearl grass, hygro were my initial plants. Rana helped me with some hair grass & HC, they are also thriving. 24 neon tetras, 10 blood fin tetras, 5 guppies & 4 mollies with 3 fry are the tank dwellers.

My name is Surya Narayanan. I'm currently working as a Corporate Trainer for a BPO company. I love pets and always had them. Since I moved to a new place, had no provision to keep few .So never the less started with wet pets last year. As a beginner got ripped and conned by most of the LFS guys. Got introduced to IAH by my boss Shankar which I think was the best thing that happened to me!
I want to thank all the IAH members who have been very supportive and with no bias shared their experience which really helped me to keep my fellows happy. Would specially like to thank Shankar, who introduced me to the new world called IAH
Irshad: He explained the entire process of setting up a planted tank which helped me a lot in setting my own. Got the best pets and plants from him. I am sure most new beginners would require a a mentor and that mentor could be none other than you and Deepak
Deepak Brid: Mater arts man. Would like to thank him for the light setup, I got from him and his wife for her kind hospitality. Deepak not only shared his views but was patient in explaining the minute details of water chemistry that is very important to keep the wet pets happy and active. And of course few good plants too
Currently I have 2 tanks. One is planted (3’*18â€*18â€) with metal halide, homemade recipe of co2 (will soon set a pressurized one) and HOB 800L/hr dolphin filter. Residents are variety of tetras, corries, loaches, and rosy barbs which I got from Dinakar. Thank you Dinakar, they have great color and look great. And the second is a cichlid tank(2.5’*15â€*15â€) with a pair of electric blue peacock which I got from Adip( Thank you for the beautiful pair), 1 front, 1 upside down cat, 1 synodontis cat, 2 eels, and 2 cray fish which I got from Irshad.
Planted Aquarium is just a month and half old.
Sorry for picturing my tank under this thread. I’m doing this to tell every IAH member that this is not my hord work but is yours. Thank you member and thank you Irshad and Deepak .
God Bless you Guys and Your Families,

I am Vyas , From Coimbatore.. Now in Blore for the past 4 years..
I have been keeping fish on and off ever since I can remember.. Never realised there was so much of science involved till about 6 months back .
I have 3 Tanks 1*X50G Cichlid Tank with Texas/Firemouths/Convicts/Mbunas/Jewels/Plecos
I was then bitten by the planted tank bug after i saw the 2006 AGA tournament..
Was hasty in setting up my first planted tank
a 50 G Tank 30" Height ..so the light has rather low penetration
Houses a few tetras and rainbows
Now experimenting or rather learning with a ~20G Planted. ..This one holds mostly cory cats
Both planteds having DIY CO2 would start fertlizing soon
I am now hooked on to IAH almost all the hours I am awake...reading and reading and reading ... The Hobby is worse than all the addictions that i have been a member of !!!!!
Once I am more confident that the next time would not be disastrous I hope to have a 100G Planted Tank...Pending Home minister's approval
It is really wonderful to have this forum esp for India aquarists. Esp since there is very few LFS which are good source for info
I would post some pics of my tank once they are a bit presentable
