Great  to  hear  so  many  of  them  have  so  many  plants  how  you  guys  find  space  in  your  tank  for  so  many  plants.  I've  been  looking  for  Java,  Willow  Moss  and  some  hairgrass  as  they  are  not  normally  available  in  the  shops.
I'm  a  real  begineer  in  this  and  I  have  already  had  my  failures.  I  chose  the  wrong  gravel.  So  If  I  could  meet  some  of  you  guys  maybe  I  will  be  able  to  pickup  some  great  advise  on  how  to  build  my  tank  for  a  planted  aquarium.

Hey  Atanu,  now  that  I  know  that  you  are  in  bangalore  can  we  meet  I  live  in  Jayanagar  4th  T  Block.  Please  confirm  if  you  are  interested.(9980540657)

 Regards,
 Karna

 Hi  everyone,

Visitng  this  forum  after  a  long  time  and  excited  to  see  it's  new  look  and  features!  Great  work  guys!

I  am  planning  to  rip  of  one  of  my  old  community  tank  and  build  a  new  set  up.  I  will  need  substancial  amount  of  Plants  for  it.  I  was  planning  for  a  substrateless  or  less  substrate  setups  with  driftwoods,  bogwoods  and  river  rocks  and  thinking  of  using  mainly  various  ferns  and  moss.

But  the  type  of  the  set  up  is  still  open  and  will  greatly  depend  on  the  availabilty  of  the  plants.  I  would  not  mind  going  for  a  high  lit  setup  if  I  can  source  the  plants.

So  if  anyone  in  Bangalore  has  healthy  plants  for  sell,  please  give  me  a  buzz  on  +919980570695.  I  am  a  member  of  the  ASK  and  I  can  pick  up  plants  from  there  on  any  Sunday,  if  required.

Also,  I  need  4-6  Otocinclus  Affinis.  If  anyone  is  having  a  ready  stock  and  willing  to  sell  please  contact  me  on  the  mobile  number  mentioned  above.

 Adip,
I  hope  you  are  still  active  in  this  forum!  Any  Otos  with  you?

 Hi  Samit
Great  blog.  I  have  read  so  many  difficult  things  about  Madagascar  lace  and  you  seem  to  have/had  them  in  a  community  tank  with  lots  of  other  plants  surrounding  it.  So  am  a  bit  confused.
I  have  some  Windelov's  from  Tropica  that  I  could  share  with  you.  Actually  I  had  brought  in  four  of  them  and  each  plant  I  find  is  equivalent  to  at  least  four  plants  -  they  are  so  big.  So  I  wouldn't  mind  giving  some  of  it  out.  But  I  am  in  Kolkata.

Thanks  Rohan.  Your  comments  are  very  inspiring!

Hi  Sudipto,  Thanks  to  you  too.  You  are  right.  Madagascar  lace  is  a  quite  difficult  species.  It  requires  nutrient  rich  substrate,  enough  light,  regular  fertilization,  co2  supply  etc  etc.  But  it  could  be  kept  in  a  community  set  up  with  other  species  (except  few  aggressive  and  fast  growing  species  like  hornwart  or  pistia  etc).  It  is  very  demanding  and  that  is  why  people  prefers  to  put  it  in  a  separate  tank  to  provide  more  care  and  even  if  iplanted  with  other  plants  it  is  suggested  to  keep  few  inches  away  from  other  plants  just  to  ensure  it  receives  proper  light  without  being  guarded  by  other  plants.  Just  to  give  this  plant  a  little  more  advantage.  Smile

In  this  set  up   I  used  Madagascar  lace  surrounded  by  various  species  of  Cryptos,  as  suggested  by  the  famous  and  veteran  aquarist  and  planted  tank  specialist,  Mr.  Madan  (a  core  member  of  this  group  as  well)  and  it  worked  very  well.

This  plant  has  a  long  dormant  period.  So,  even  it  is  not  growing,  I'd  suggest  to  keep  the  bulb  in  your  tank,  buried  in  your  substrate.  It  might  surprise  you  one  day  with  a  green  bud.   Smile

 Mahesh,

Welcome  to  IAH.  Please  read  other  posts  in  the  forum.  A  fish  bowl  is  considered  a  NO-NO  especially  for  goldfish.  A  bowl  is  probably  okay  for  a  betta  (fighter,  as  it  is  commonly  referred  to)  and  not  any  other  fish.

 Hi  Brojo,

You  have  mentioned  that  you  have  some  cuttings  of  windelov  that  you  got  from  Tropica  and  you  are  in  Kolkata.  Does  that  mean,  Tropica  started  shipment  in  India?  3  years  back  I  have  sent  them  a  mail  and  they  replied  me  that  they  don't  ship  in  India.

Did  you  get  you  plants  thorugh  a  mail  order?

 Best,
 Samit

 Samit,

You  can  check  with  Perikaruppan,  the  thread  starter.  If  I  am  not  wrong,  he  did  manage  to  pick  up  plants  with  Tropica.
