 Hi,
Have  been  making  homemade  gel  feed  for  my  Goldies  but  the  water  always  gets  cloudy,I  am  using  Gelatin  as  binder. Is  there  any  other  binder  which  is  available  locally  and  would  not  cloud  the  water?Has  anybody  experimented  with  any  type  of  Gum  or  any  other  Binder  which  is  safe  for  the  fishes
 with  warm  regards
 Shishir  kamat

If  made  properly,  gelatine  bound  foods  will  not  cloud  the  water.  I've  been  using  them  for  years  now,  not  a  single  incident  of  cloudy  water.

 with  warm  regards

 Shishir,
I  use  2  sachets  (approx  15  grams)  of  unflavoured  gelatine  for  approximately  800  grams  of  shrimp  mix.

The  key  is  not  to  use  too  much  water,  factor  in  the  amount  of  water  in  the  ground  up  mix  into  the  requirements  for  dissolving  the  gelatine.

 Sishir,
rahul  is  right  the  shrimp  paste  will  also  have  a  lot  of  water!
 on  a  different  note,
If  you  have  access  to  white  crane  products  try  acquiring  a  bag  of  'AQUAMIX  101'  -  it  is  a  multi  vitamin  suppliment  that  I  use  in  my  feed  and  does  act  as  a  binder  to  a  certain  extent  so  I  use  less  amount  of  gelatine

 Karna,

biscuits  can  make  you  water  cloudy,  but  boiled  rice  will  not...  just  wash  the  boiled  rice  before  putting  into  the  tank....  Thumb Up

 Hi

I  am  mixing  500  gms.  minced  Beef  Heart,  100  Gm.  Tetrabits,  100  Gms.  Palak  for  my  Discus.
How  much  Gelatin  should  I  use?

How  should  I  mix  it?  Palak  becomes  watery  when  I  put  it  through  grinder.

I  suppose  gelatin  is  available  with  most  of  the  grocers  /  dry  fruit  stores.
