Hi Rahul
I too was leaning towards Omobranchus. But that was until I compared the shape of the mouth of the fish in Trevor's pic with the one depicted as P. heyligeri. Omobranchus species seem to have very different faces.

The shape of the head and mouth changes as the fish matures. One of the reasons I asked Trevor for a lateral view was to get a better look at the dorsal fin |

The peeping behaviour resembles blenny. Guess this is a freshwater fish. Come on Trevor, pics are very unclear.

That was the turning point, actually.
Where was this fish collected? Trevor was seen driving his new car near Bangalore, just before this competition came up. |

Lalu, If I can catch blennies in Bangalore I would be able to buy a new car every month. Its a Vietnamese blenny.
Thanks to the local 'Aquaspot world' guy for sponsoring this lovely Anubia bateri var nana 'eyes'. More sponsors have come forward with offers for the next competition which will be announced shortly.

Madan,
We need to set some rules and guidelines for the next competition. Or else the Judges will go crazy with the carpet bombing of answers. |

Hmmm... OK,
I suppose if people take the competition in the right spirit they will not try carpet bombing the thread with all names of fish they come across, humor is one thing and most needed, welcome, and always appreciated by our members, but not making a any effort and naming fish for the sake of compulsively posting is another matter.
What started off as a fun competition, apparently turned out to be irritating for many as I can make out from the feedback I have got. I wasn't around the whole week, I saw the first few posts and then came back to 12 odd pages of posts, so people following the thread must have been pissed off I guess.
How about limiting the number of guesses to three per person with one guess per day as the limit. |

A couple more guesses,Madan. Five would be sufficient IMHO.
Three is just going to be too difficult.
And to make sure noone is editing their posts, someone should compile all the guesses in one post at the end of the day. |

The only way to avoid cheating of the editing kind is to create a separate forum and deny members the permission to edit their posts.
