 Hello  Peeps,
I  have  an  Aquarium  by  name  WaterWorld  (How  Original).  I  have  about  6  Tiger  Sharks  in  them,  half  of  them  being  black  and  the  rest  white  (Racism).  Now  the  issue  is  I  have  no  tissue  to  wipe  my  tears  and  theirs  too.  They  have  developed  scales  on  their  bodies,  kind  of  white  patches.  One  Angel  Fish  died  previously  of  Fin  Rot.  That  was  the  only  Angel  Fish  that  I  had.  They  seem  to  have  lost  their  appetite.  Local  Aquarium  Shops  suggested  250  mg  of  Amoxicillin  &  250  mg  of  Tetracycline.   That  didn't  work.  Another  suggestion  was  Bactrim  D  (4  Tablets)  That  hasn't  helped  either.  I  just  can't  bear  to  see  them  so  restless.  Any  suggestions  ??  Please.

 Welcome  to  IAH!!
Give  us  details  of  the  tank  size,  volume,  filtration,  planted  ,  bb  etc  etc?
Try  not  to  medicate  anything  as  much  as  possible.  Find  the  root  cause  of  the  sickness  and  change  that  instead.

Goldie  normally  we  need  to  know  the  size  of  the  fish,  size  of  the  tank,  your  maintenance  routine,  filtration  in  use,  water  change  frequency  etc.,  how  long  they've  been  in  your  tank,  before  suggesting  what  is  wrong.

However  in  the  case  of  Tiger  sharks,  these  fish  get  to  be  very  large  and  they  are  not  meant  for  home  aquaria,  albino  or  not  all  races  of  Tiger  Sharks  are  a  no  no.

This  white  patches  you  see  is  a  result  of  ammonia  in  the  water.  They  eat  and  pooh  and  contaminate  their  world  very  fast.  The  ammonia  causes  the  slime  coat  to  slough  off,  white  patches.  The  bare  skin/scales  are  then  exposed  to  infection.

My  recommendation  is  to  remove  them  and  return  them  to  the  LFS  or  release  them  into  a  pond.

As  an  immediate  measure  do  a  100%  water  change  and  reduce  feeding  to  alternate  days.

Thanks  Pradeep  &  Madan  for  taking  the  time  to  help  me  out.  Well,  my  tank  size  is  2ft  wide,  1.5  ft  high  and  1ft  in  length.  But  I'll  buy  a  bigger  aquarium  once  I  shift  to  my  own  place.  Twice  the  size  of  what  I  have  now.  The  last  I  changed  water  was  on  14th  of  January.  I  clearly  remember  cause  it  was  my  wedding  anniversary.  I  thought  atleast  the  fish  deserve  to  live  in  a  nice  environment.  I  have  Amazon  and  Banana  plants  in  the  aquarium.  I  have  a  Boyu  double  barreled  size  filter.  I  have  put  in  natural  stones  that  I  picked  up  from  Goa.  I  also  have  beach  gravel.  The  lighting  system  is,  well,  thin  long  tubes  that  are  mostly  used  in  office  decoration.  One  blue  tube  and  a  white  tube.  I've  also  picked  up  Rid-All  Anti  Fungal  Solution  from   Aquatik  Society,  Cubbon  Road,  Bangalore.  Should  I  really  try  it  out?  My  water  is  a  mix  of  Amoxillin,  Tetracycline,  Bactrim  D.  And  now  this  solution?  Shall  I  change  the  water  &  then  start  with  this  solution?  I  really  wouldn't  mind  taking  leave  or  spending  the  weekend  serving  the  fish.  I  can't  see  them  not  eating  and  wearing  scales  all  over  their  body.  Advice,  help  and  donation  is  welcome.

The  fish  deserve  to  live  in  a  good  environment  not  only  on  your  wedding  anniversary  but  everyday.

Do  you  bathe  only  on  your  wedding  anniversary?  I  don't  think  you  do,  then  why  subject  your  fish  to  something  heinous.

The  more  frequent  the  water  changes  you  do,  the  better  they  will  be.

Change  water  100%  right  away,  Clean  up  the  gravel  and  everything  in  the  tank.

Make  regular  water  changes  daily  about  25%.  Yes  use  Rid-All  that  you  have  and  follow  instructions.  Reduce  feeding.  Get  along  on  finding  a  place  that  will  take  these  fish  and  send  then  off,  but  after  first  curing  them.

Get  some  fish  that  are  suitable  for  your  tank.

Please  don't  use  anymore  meds.  Generally,  clean  water  is  all  that  takes  to  keep  fish  healthy.

Your  tank  is  pretty  small  and  can  get  dirty  pretty  easily.

For  now,  do  a  large  water  change,  say  80%  of  the  tank  water.  Add  a  teaspoon  of  rock  salt  if  you  have  some.
Then  do  the  same,  again  tomorrow.
Don't  add  any  medicines  and  clean  out  your  filter.

You  should  know  that  your  tank  requires  maintenance  reqularly,  such  as  wiping  down  the  glass  ,  cleaning  the  filters  and  WATER  CHANGES.

W/cs  are  done  weekly  or  bi-weekly.  Usualy  30  -  50%  of  the  water  is  changed  at  a  time.  Never  change  all  the  water  in  your  tank  at  one  go.

Google  and  read  up  on  "aquarium  cycle"  and  go  thorough  the  old  posts  in  the  forums.

Thats  should  be  enough  to  get  you  started  Smile

Thanks  again  Madan  and  Pradeep.  Hey,  I  've  had  those  fish  for  almost  a  year  and  a  half  now&  I  took  good  care  of  them.  As  far  as  cleaning  goes,  I  do  really  take  good  care  of  it.  By  water  change  on  14th  Jan  I  meant  that  was  the  last  I  totally  put  in  fresh  bore  well  water.  I  do  pull  out  50%  of  the  water  every  15-20  days  and  refill  it  with  new  water.  But  the  total  makeover  was  done  on  14th  Jan.  I  haven't  been  able  to  concentrate  on  any  thing  else  ever  since  my  fish  went  sick.  Yes,  the  medicine  in  the  water  wasn't  cleaned  cause  I  was  advised  not  to.  Now  that  I  know,  I'll  start  on  it  right  away.  I  love  fish  &  I  don't  subject  it  to  heinousness.  But  guys,  I'll  need  help  often  as  I'll  be  building  a  bigger  aquarium.  Thanks  again  you  guys.

 Welcome  anytime.

Your  post  had  me  do  a  flip  with  a  mention  of  nothing  else  but  the  last  14th  January  water  change!

Do  check  for  chlorine  in  your  water  if  all  this  is  a  recent  phenomenon  and  use  a  chlorine  remover  at  water  changes.

Clean  up  you  tank,  do  frequent  water  changes  until  it  cycles  again  and  the  fish  should  recover.

 Goldeneye,

Just  forget  all  those  thing  whatever  you  did  till  now.

from  now  onwards,  do  as  Madan  &  Pradeep  has  suggested.

Feed  them  only  2  times  daily  as  much  your  fish  will  consume  within  3  min.
Do  20%  water  change  daily,  will  be  much  better  if  you  can  aerate  the  water  using  any  air  stone  &  air  pump  for  24  hrs  before  filling  the  new  water  into  your  tank.  Thumb Up

 Hey  Pradeep  n  Madan,

The  fish  are  doing  real  good  now.  The  fungus  on  the  body  is  gone.  They  are  back  to  normal  and  their  appetite  has  increased  too.  I  find  they  are  active  too.  Thanks  to  you  guys  again.  As  suggested  I  am  giving  them  away  back  to  the  dealers.  Which  fish  according  to  you  guys  could  be  suitable  to  rear  now?  Please  suggest.

For  a  aquarium  of  that  size, livebearers  like  molly,  guppy,  platy's,  swordtails  are  a  good  choice.  You  can  also  have  neon  &  other  tetra's.
