 Hi,

This  is  Thilak  Raj.    I'm  from  Madurai,  stayed  quiet  sometime  in  Bangalore  and  now  at  Thiruvanandapuram.

Fish  have  always  been  there  at  home,  since  I  was  8,  but  I  have  been  into  serious  fish  keeping  only  very  recently.    Till  then  I  used  to  have  a  couple  of  Guppy  or  just  a  pair  of  gold  fish.    Very Happy

My  interests  towards  the  hobby  increased  only  after  seeing  such  a  vast  forums  and  groups  available  in  the  net  and  the  various  sites  with  information  on  breeding  and  other  stuffs.    Hope  to  become  a  serious  hobbyists  with  vast  knowledge  soon.

I  learn  a  lot  from  this  website,  hats  off  to  the  people  who  set  up/maintain  this  site.

 Rgds

 Hello  Fellow  Hobbyists,

I  am  PK  (  Pradyumna  Kumar  Singhania)  from  Kolkata.  I  am  a  businessman  by  profession  and  have  been  traveling  a  lot  in  the  past  20  years.  I  am  close  to  40  now.  My  hobby  had  started  when  I  was  7.  Calcutta  has  always  had  LFS's  all  over  the  city  and  this  hobby  is  deeply  rooted  into  most  bengali  households.

Kolkata  has  many  interesting  places  one  can  visit  to  actually  witness  the  craze  Calcuttans  have  forthis  hobby,  for  example  the  Galiff  Street    Market..which  is  a  Road  Side,  Sunday  morning  only  Market  for  Plants  and  Pets.  Fish  is  the  major  attraction,  ater    birds  and  plants.  I  Happened  to  visit  this  market  recently,  for  the  first  time  and  my  childhood  hobby  was  rekindled  to  its  maximum  and  in  a  frenzy,  I  set  up  all  my  dried  up  tanks,  around  12  of  them  that  very  sunday. This  was  3  months  back.

Today,  I  have  the  following  tanks:

 a)  6'  x  24"  x  18"-  almost  100  gallon  marine  tank,  slowly  going  to  become  a  reef  tank,  housing  100  lbs  of  Live  rock,  substrate,  UG  filter,  Eheim  Wet/dry  filter, two  MH  lamps,  2  Blue  actinics  (  all  Arcadia),  A  Protein  Skimmer  (  RedSea  Prizm  Pro).  Live  specimens  that  I  have  in  this  tank  as  of  now  is  a  Half  moon  angel,  fire  gobi,  Blue  Devls  (3),  3  spotted  damsel,  Seabae,  Percula  (false  i  think),  Tomato  clowns,  3  varieties  of  anemones,  two  blue  streak  wrasses,  a  star  fish. The  Tank  looks  good  Smile

 b)  6'  x  18"x  18"  Invertebrate  tank,  marine.  Has  a  lone  Clown  Surgeon  Fish  thats  not  eating.  I  am  trying  hard  with  Nori,  but  in  vain,  been  10  days  now.  I  dont  know  what  to  do,  please  HELP  someone,if  You  can.

 c)  4"  x    30"  x  30"  planted  freshwater  tank,  which  has  lots  and  lots  of  tetras  now  (  Rummy  nose,  Neons  50  each)  and  some  Corydoras  cats.  I  wish  to  slowly  introduce  some  discus  into  this  tank.Smile

 d)  36"  X  12"  x  12"  Planted  tank  with  thick  vegetation,  no  co2,  but  natural  light  and  a  top  soil  layer  under  a  layer  of  sand...the  tank  looks  good  to  me.  It  has  4  Honey  Gauramis  and  they  are  so  happy.  Since  all  are  male,  they  keep  making  bubble  nests  with  a  hope  to  get  a  mate  someday.

 e)  4'  X  24"  x  24"  Freshwater  tank,  with  around  12  Rosy  barbs,  around  50  tetras,  various,  and  3lovely  RedParrots  with  a  sand  substrate,  Eheim  2217  filtration,  and  natural  lighting.  They  all  are  so  happy  in  there:)

I  have  a  few  more  small  tanks,  but  they  have  allmy  favourite  guppies, mollies,  chiclids,  swordtails  and  two  tanks  housing  some  discus,  juveniles  and  babies..soon  to  be  introduced  in  their  large  planted  home.

My  Hobby  was  on  a  flat  scale  for  the  last  20  years,  when  I  had  one  large  aquarium  inmy  office  room, having  my  parrots  and  a  few  discus  and  silver  sharks.  Bad  combo, but  they  seemd  fine.  They  were  with  me  for  8  years  and  now,  they  have  gone  out....outdoors,  silver  sharks  died  naturally  i  thinkand  the  Marine  tank  has  taken  the  place  indoors  in  my  chamber.

I  am  happy  to  be  a  part  as  a  newbie  in  this  forum  of  IAH  and  i  have  learnt  lots  here  and  wish  to  keep  learning  and  experimenting.  Cheers!!  Water  is  so  fascinating....the  Elixir  of  life:)

 Hi!

I'm  Jennifer  from  Bangalore  and  am  27  years  old.  I  am  an  amateur  at  fish  keeping  and  have  recently  become  obsessed  with  FISH!

I  have  a  whole  lot  of  male  Bettas,  angels,  corydoras,  plecos,  red-finned  shark,  neon  tetras,  goldfish-  comet  and  blackmoor,  a  pair  of  red-capped  goldfish,  a  cichlid  tank,  a  snail  bowl,  a  livebearers  tank-  guppies,  platties,  swordtails  and  mollies,  a  couple  of  aquatic  plant  tubs  and  finally  the  fry  tank!

I  get  very  impulsive  the  moment  I  enter  an  aquarium,  and  simply  go  beserk  coveting  all  that  I  lay  my  eyes  upon.    I  have  finally  learnt  to  do  my  research  before  buying  any  fish  (Kinda  got  tired  rushing  back  to  the  vendor,  every  time  I  discovered  I  couldn't  provide  for  that  particular  fish    ).  This  website  has  helped  me  immensely,  and  carries  a  wealth  of  information.

I  am  looking  forward  to  having  a  meaningful  and  interesting  interaction  with  all  you  fish  folk!

 Cheers!  Very Happy

 Jenny
