I  am  sorry  to  post  this  topic  on  this  forum  but  I  am  unable  to  add  attachments  on  the  disease  n  cure  forum.  Can  someone  please  identify  if  this  fish  is  suffering  from  dropsy,  and  if  so,  what  do  I  need  to  do?  Thanks.

 Sorry  for  delay
If  the  fish  is  alive  then  follow  the  treatment
Isolate  the  fish  now  because  it  is  infected  by  S.V.C.  Virus,
Heating  the  water  to  86°F  for  3  days  has  shown  to  kill  this  virus.   Secondary  infections  may  be  treated  with   Oxytetracycline  +  Oxolinic  Acid  in  the  feed.   Forma-Green  may  be  used  in  the  water  if  the  fish  have  ulcerations.
 Regards
 Kaushik

 Hi  akg007,

That  fish  looks  like  chinese  algae  eater  to  me...  And  if  it  CAE  then  they  are  bottom  dwellers.  He  looks  as  thou  he  is  overfed.  Leave  him  salt  water  for  a  day  or  2  and  he  should  be  fine.

 Regards,
 Surya

Thanks  for  the  replies.  So,  how  do  I  confirm  if  the  poor  sae  is  just  overfed  or  sick?  It  seems  to  be  active  and  eating  all  the  time.  Its  just  that  from  some  angles  the  fish  looks  bloated  and  like  a  pine  cone.  So,  I  am  not  sure  what  to  do.  Any  other  opinions?

As  in  scales  sticking  out?  That  is  a  classic  symptom  of  dropsy.

No  tried  and  tested  treatment  for  it,  unfortunately,  as  the  causes  vary.  Some  get  better  with  some  R&R,  many  (if  cause  is  viral)  die,  some  (if  cause  is  bacterial)  get  better  with  antibiotics.
