 alllooo  people,

Â This  is  a  aquarium  forum  and  everything,  but  i've  been  looking  for  these  plants  for  quite  some  time  now  and  dont  know  any  gardening  or  terrarium  forums  in  india.  If  anyone  can  give  me  information  on  their  availability  in  india,  i'll  be  much  obliged.

These  are  tillandsia  also  called  airplants  or  sky  plants,  and  there  are  quite  a  few  species.  They  are  not  planted  in  soil  but  instead  mounted  on  supports  like  wood  and  stone.  They  can  be  sprayed  with  water  every  other  day.  So  if  anyone  can  tell  me  if  it  is  available  in  india,  especialy  people  from  places  like  bangalore,  ooty,  i  will  be  very  happy.  Thanks.

I  have  only  seen  Aloe  vera  being  hanged  like  that.

Last  when  i  was  at  Ooty,  i  saw  some  plants  being  planted  on  bamboo  wound  with  thick  moss.  I  was  nice  to  see  the  array  of  bamboos  with  lots  of  plants.  These  moss  might  not  do  well  in  Chennai-like  places..  :  (

I've  never  even  seen  plants  like  this  before.  They  seem  to  be  very  nice  to  keep  if  you  can  get  them.

 Dear  Ram  kumar
You  can  find  most  of  the  plants  from  Sikkim's  horticulture  society.
 Contact  them

These  are  quite  easy  to  grow  on  a  piece  of  driftwood.  Anyone  has  these  here?  they  are  very  small  so  can  be  shipped  easily

not  sure  if  they  can  grow  in  Pondy  though....  you  could  try  orchids  instead

@PC:  Not  to  worry,  i  would  say  that  these  are  much  easier  to  keep  than  orchids  and  the  plus  is  that  they  actually  favour  hot  humid  climates.  Orchids  are  just  a  pain  in  the  neck  sometimes  with  the  amount  of  care  they  need.

Tillandsia  requires  high  humidity, will  not  survive  in  Pondicherry,I  received  some  plants  from

Singapore, but  failed  in  growing  them.Instead  try  some  Bromiliad  or  orchids  specially
Dendrobium  Phal, which  are  very  suitable  for  your  climate
