 Hi  friends,
I`ve  been  toying  with  an  idea  of  building  a  rack  keeping  in  mind  the  space  conatraint  at  home..
i  plan  to  stack  one  planted  one  cichlid  tank  and  some  small  nano  or  growout  tanks  all  these  on  the  three  seperate  racks...

but  for  that  i  need  suggestions  regarding...
 1)  the  type  of  steel  i  am  supposed  to  use,
 2)  design  of  the  rack
 3)  where  shall  i  place  the  planted  tank  and  the  cichlid  tank
 4)  how  much  head  space  do  i  need  to  work  in  the  tanks
 5)  and  last  but  not  the  least...........  is  it  possible????  Very Happy

and  yes  the  tanks  size  in  my  mind  is  no  bigger  than  36x18x18(lxbxh),  for  the  planted  and  for  cichlid`s.

                                                                                       happy  underwater  gardening..
                                                                                                                Saad

 hey  Sadalai,
I  have  done  such  a  setting...  the  setting  is  as  follows:
 3  rows  ...
 1.  1st  one  is  3"  from  the  ground  with  a  height  of  2'  -  this  shall  hold  1'6"  height  tanks.
 2.  2nd  row  is  2'6"  in  height,  will  hold  2'  height  tanks....
 3.  3rd  row  tanks  1'6"  in  height...

the  concept  is  with  6"  of  clear  working  space.

so  the  top  of  the  3rd  row  tank  will  be  6'9"  (including  1"  of  angle  in  each  row  so  that  u  get  clear  6",  or  else  it  will  only  be  5"  as  the  angle  will  eat  away  1"...  plus  1"  of  thermacol  for  each  row)

so  the  metal  used  is  MS  -  1"  Angle  pipes  for  the  frame..  and  post  is  1.5"angle  pipes...with  support  strip  of  1/2"  @  every  6"  to  support  the  tank.
the  entire  structure  can  be  dismantled  and  transported.

 for  a  width  of  6'  (2  hold  4  X  1.5'  @  bottom,  2X3'  at  center  and  4X1.5'  at  top)  was  about  6k.

 Pk

The  LFS  guy  near  my  house  has  a  similar  rack  where  he  houses  his  fish.

Get  the  rack  first  and  then  have  the  tanks  built/bought  after  measuring  the  size.

3  seperate  racks  means  what?
3  different  single  racks  or  you  want  to  keep  them  onto  only  1  rack  but  on  3  diffrent  floors?
