If  you  are  going  with  the  wife,  then  definitely  the  things  to  be  seen  are  inclined  towards  non  fishy.   Chuckle   Chuckle

 Anyways  have  a  gr8  time.

 Hi  Pradeep
Try  to  stay  somewhere  near  the  beach/french  town  and  simply  walk  through  the  streets  Thumb Up  tourist  spots  would  include  the  beach  (ofcourse)  Aurobindo  ashram,  Aurovile  (you  can  even  spend  a  full  day  here)  the  boat  house  at  chunambar  (on  the  way  to  cuddalore  at  a  place  called  ariankupam)  it  might  also  be  of  'fishy'  interest...and  oh,  theres  also  a  public  aquarium  at  the  botanical  gardens  (you'll  feel  sorry  for  the  fish  if  you  know  what  i  mean)
where  are  you  staying?  theres  this  place  called  Hotel  du  parc  which  is  an  excellent  place  to  stay  or  if  your  budget  permits  The  promenade  on  the  beach  is  an  excellent  choice
P.S:  you  can  visit  Jayaselans  LFS  near  the  old  bus  stand,  its  not  much  but...should  be  worth  the  visit...its  called  JK  aquarium
 HTH

 Hi  Pradeep,

Just  also  remembered,  that  you  also  may  need  to  carry  a  fake  tamil  nadu  registration  number  plate  with  you  with  all  the  trouble  brewing.

If  you  are  driving  down  that  is.

I  would  suggest  putting  off  your  trip  till  things  die  down.  I  was  to  be  in  Bangalore  tomorrow,  but  now  it  has  been  put  off.

Politicians  and  maniacs  are  never  bothered  about  disrupting  peace.  In  fact  I  think  they  relish  it.

2-3  years  back  I  went  pondi  for  a  day  trip.  Had  beautifull  lunch  in  a  French  Restaurant  (Specially  I  can  remember  the  Duck  Roast  and  the  Red  Wine).  But  that  time  I  was  not  in  a  normal  state   Drinking     so  can't  remember  the  address  or  name  but  it's  looking  like  a  house  than  a  restaurant.

But  good  place  to  visit  and  dont  forget  to  pick  up  good,  cheap,  handmade  leather  sandals  there.

"2-3  years  back  I  went  pondi  for  a  day  trip.  Had  beautifull  lunch  in  a  French  Restaurant  (Specially  I  can  remember  the  Duck  Roast  and  the  Red  Wine"  ....  that  just  may  be  Rendezvous,  the  restaurant  I  mean  <grin>.

Guna  used  to  be  active  in  the  IAH  but  seems  to  have  been  gone  for  quite  some  time.  He  is  in  Pondicherry.  As  far  as  I  remember  Jayaseelans  was  the  place  he  used  to  mention.

There  used  to  be  one  shop  near  the  old  bus  stand  close  to  the  botanical  gardens  but  I  have  forgotten  the  name.

There  are  two  shops  on  Laporte  street,  on  where  it  intersects  Subhash  Chandra  Bose  street,  and  one  where  it  crosses  Bharathi  street.  At  least  thats  what  I  remember  from  about  10  years  back!  Guna's  input  till  about  1  year  back  was  that  all  three  were  still  in  business.  Even  so  you  should  find  out  if  someone  can  give  you  more  up  to  date  data.

Of  these  I  can  vouch  for  Rendezvous  and  Satsanga.  Also  I  vouch  that  the  prices  are  'Ouch!!'.  Every  autowala  knows  both.
