 Hi!
I've  a  3x1x1  aquarium  with  3  golds  (1  litchi,  1  moor  and  a  red  cap),  2  medium  size  tiger  sharks,  2  small  albino  tigers,  2  medium  carps,  1  small  pleco,  2  zebra,  2  blue  danios,  1  small  severum  and  a  siamese  fighter  not  to  forget  two  apple  snails.
The  problem  is  that  my  neighbors  just  brought  a  goldfish  bowl  with  9"  dia.  It  had  4  red  caps  of  small  size.  Now  their  goldfishes  have  grown  around  double  their  size  (just  3  remaining)  within  around  2  months  (or  less  I  suppose).  They  haven't  introduced  any  filter  and  water  is  usually  cloudy  with  food  floating  around  (They  use  Taiyo  balls).  Whereas  my  water  is  crystal  clear  with  filter  running  24  x  7  and  weekly  25%  WC.  I  feed  them  with  goat  heart,  shrimps,  blood  worms  and  pellets.  Still  I  feel  my  goldies  are  weaker  than  theirs.  My  wife  always  complaints  that  I  dont  feed  them  much  hence  they  are  weak.  I  personally  think  feeding  them  twice  a  day  is  sufficient.  As  it  is  goldies  dont  have  a  very  strong  metabolism.
Can  anyone  there  suggest  as  to  why  my  goldies  are  not  growing  as  fast?  Crying or Very sad

May  be  your  other  tank  mates  are  much  faster  in  picking  up  the  food  than  your  goldies....

But  the  goldies  do  eat  well.  And  are  otherwise  healthy.  I  mean  I  dont  see  any  promblem  with  them  swimming  around.

I  think  your  tank  is  over  crowded  way  beyond  limit.  The  growth  problem  must  be  due  to  lack  of  space  in  the  tank.

 Dear  Saurav  m
 First  dont  envy  your  neighbour.
Reduce  the  bioload  of  your  tank.
 Frequently  change  the  water.
 Feed  high  protein  food
Just  allow  Â the  fish  to  live  happyly
Hope  it  will  fruit  good  results
 Regards
 Kaushik

 Hi  Saurabh,

Go  &  strangle  the  LFS  guy  for  giving  you  some  stunted  Goldies.  Guns

IMO  for  good  growth,  you  must  first  start  with  some  good  fish.

 Anyways  all  the  Best.

 Rgds

 Prabhu

 lol  @  question

very  interesting  what  wifies  can  come  up  with  ...hehehe  i  am  sure  all  maried  men  can  pitch  into  this  one.

 1)  First  you  answered  your  question  your  self  (  3  remaining)  so  we  already  have  a  death  in  the  bowl  and  wont  be  long  before  there  are  none.
 2)  Your  own  bio  load  is  very  high.  Crystal  clear  water  does  not  mean  good  water.  Check  ammonia,  nitrites  etc  etc....
 3)  Do  everything  kaushik  has  suggested.
 4)  Proly  the  shape  of  the  bowl  makes  them  look  bigger  and  may  not  actually  be.  Look  at  it  from  the  top.  The  bowl  does  act  as  a  magnifying  glass.

 Saurabh,
If  I  may  add  to  what  has  been  said  about  your  setup,  please  get  rid  of  the  tiger  sharks  asap,  they  are  not  meant  to  be  aquarium  fishes,  they  grow  huge. It's  only  human  to  get  attached  to  their  pets,  more  so  when  kept  for  longer,  so  it's  better  to  get  rid  of  them  now  rather  than  later  .  In  about  3-4  months  they  will  outgrow  your  tank  and  you  will  have  to  return  them  anyway  with  a  heavy  heart.

Also,  if  you  are  going  to  keep  goldies  in  the  tank,  keep  an  eye  on  the  severum.

You've  got  a  point  buddy.  Now  I  can  explain  it  to  my  wife.  Very Happy
 Thanks
 @  Antu
I  also  want  to  get  rid  of  my  sharks.  But  cant  just  throw  them  away.  Maybe  anyone  from  Lucknow  is  willing  to  take  em.  I  shall  be  happy  to  part  with  them  (I  hope  so..  Sad  )

Give  it  back  to  the  LFS  for  free,  they  should  take  it  back  as  long  as  they  are  not  paying  anything.
