Just received my copy of the latest "Buntbarsche Bulletin" and guess whats on the cover???.......you guessed it!!!
Inside is an article by Vinny Kutty, detailing his last collecting trip.
IMPORTANT; GPS coords: N 12 50.544; E 75 13.043 (This is near Uppinangady) Madan, you now have no excuse for not finding the fish
There is some sobering news in the article too, apparently exporters have been encouraging locals to use poison and explosives to collect the fish
Anyhow, hope you guys find the fish...and collect responsibly.
We have knowledge of a few more locations from where these fish are being collected. Hope these locations pan out too.
I think we should document the various locations these fish are found, rather than bring back a lot of them home. A few fish for die hard people who already have a tank ready for them will be more than enough.
So guys - you want to bring E.canarensis back get that tank up and ready to receive them before we depart.
I for one cannot accomodate them right now, so I'll settle for finding the fish and having fun doing that, no bringing any back home.

It is quite likely that the fish has a wider range than is currently known. However, I am ambivalent about widely publicizing other locations for reasons mentioned in my original post...

This is exactly what is needed, hopefully everyone else echoes your thought.
BTW, the fish fauna of the Netravati drainage system has never been fully documented, so there are plenty of other undescribed fish for you to bring back, in addition to E. canarensis. Expect to find undescribed Danios, Garras, catfish etc.

Found the first hurdle today.
I called the Akshara lodge belonging to the temple in Subramanya, ph no:08257- 281224,281423 and was informed that they do not take advance booking. We have to go there and try our luck.
On prodding that people are coming from all over India they told us to try at Ashlesha, a private lodge. So I think Mr Trevor and my trip to Subramanya is compulsory. Will finalise on it soon.
Bookings as of now,
1) 2 bedroom A/C- 1 no. Mr Madan
2) 2 bedroom A/C- 2 nos. Mr Nag
3) 4 bed room A/C-1 no. Mr Adip
4) 4 Bed room A/C-1 no. Myself.
5) 2 bed room A/C-1 no. Lancelot.
