Hello  Every  One,  this  is  Jamshed  from  Mumbai.  Have  been  Running  an  IT  firm  from  past  10  years  now.  I  have  always  been  in  love  with  animals.  I  have  kept  uncaged  Squirrels  and  freash  water  fish.  Once  upon  a  time  i  had  about  30  fish  tanks  and  i  use  to  be  breed  egg  bearer   fishes  for  5  years  (between  1993  -  1998).

 Hi!  Charles  here.

I  am  49  years  old.   I  got  interested  in  fish  when  I  was  perhaps  9  years  old.  The  first  fish  I  kept  were  the  ones  I  collected  from  streams  near  my  home.   Unfortunately  most  of  them  died  as  I  used  to  keep  them  in  small  glass  botttles.
I  picked  up  my  first  aquarium  from  Moore  market,  Madras,  and  believe  it  or  not  the  18"x9"x9"  tank  with  a  tin  frame  and  bitumen  as  sealant  cost  me  Rs.  7.50/=  I  had  this  aquarium  for  almost  10  years.
I  continued  my  hobby  over  the  years.   I  started  working  at  a  touring  job  for  18  years.   But  inspite  of  my  frequent  absence  from  home  I  kept  a  few  aquariums.

I  now  do  aquarium  maintenance  and  fabrication  of  aquaria.   I  am  also  actively  involved  in  animal  welfare.

Hi,  This  is  Arun  from  Bangalore.

I  got  interested  in  aquariums  more  than  10  years  ago,  when  my  father  was  pursuing  this  hobby,  we  were  having  8  small  tanks  for  more  than  a  year.

Recently,  I  am  having  2  tanks  for  the  past  1  year.

Big  one  -  3'-1'-1.5',  in  which  I  have  a  single  copper/red  oscar  for  about  9  months  now.  It  has  grown  from  3"  to  9"  in  these  9  months.

Small  one  -  2'-1'-1',  in  which  I  have  six  small  monos,  for  the  past  3  months.

The  oscar  is  now  too  big  for  the  tank,  and  I  am  looking  to  exchange  it  for  some  other  fish,  but  I  dont  know  the  value  of  my  oscar,  and  who  would  exchange  it  or  buy  it  from  me.  This  is  one  of  the  first  things  I  am  hoping  to  find  out  from  this  forum  Smile.

 Arun

 Hi  all

I  am  Satish  and  have  done  my  diploma  in  mechanical  engg  and  presently  working  wih  a  service  company.  I  always  wished  to  keep  an  aquarium  and  had  tried  once  starting  with  a  bowl  but  my  pets  couldn't  last  for  more  than  a  couple  of  days,  because  nobody  was  there  to  guide.  But  this  time  i  tried  to  do  my  homework  and  begun  with  a  2*1*1  tank  with  two  mollies,  a  platy  and  one  which  i  couldn't  recognize.  Will  need  your  wishes  and  guidance  in  my  attempt  and  hopely  will  get  into  upgrading  into  a  bigger  tank  and  may  be  a  planted  one  too.

 Hi  Fellow  Hobbyists!!   Smile

I  am  Tabrez  from  Bangalore.  Have  been  in  this  awesome  and  full-filling  hobby  from  10  years.  A  college  graduate  in  2007  currently  working  in  the  Investment  Banking  sector.

Fascinated  with  Native  Species  off  late!!  Previous  fish-keeping  records  are  successful  breeding  and  raring  of  all  live-bearers  which  included  interesting  strains  of  Swordtails,my  favourite  live-bearer.   Smile  .  Similarly  have  bred  and  rared  most  gouramis, bettas  and  Goldfish.  Managed  to  rare  them  as  we  have  a  farm  at  Mysore  road(45  Km  from  Bangalore)  and  have  a  few  cement  tanks  there(no  more  in  usable  condition, needs  repairs).  Currently  have  a  set  up  of  4  tanks  and  a  bath  tub  at  home  with  fish  Chuckle  ,one  four  footer  which  holds  Angelfish, one  two  footer  having  a  single  Channa  sp.  in  it  and  the  other  two  in  which  the  varieties  keep  changing.   Chuckle   Actually  have  12  aquariums  with  me  but  unable  to  set  up  because  of  the  new  apartment  we  have  moved  into, have  plans  to  create  a  big  space  to  accomodate  those  tanks  once  we  move  to  an  independent  house.   Smile

There's  much  more  to  share, hope  to  get  your  support, advise  and  expertise  in  the  days  hereafter.   Smile   Smile   Thumbs Up

 Best  Regards,

 Hello  everybody,
This  is  Rahul  Rai.  I  am  currently  doing  my  M.Tech  in  Bangalore.
First  of  all,   fantastic  website  you  have  got  here  and  also  the  great  people  who  make  all  this  possible  with  their  wealth  of  knowledge  and  experience. Most  important  thing  is  the  articles  are  all  from  a  very  Indian  perspective.  Hence  i  would  be  immensely  proud  to  be  associate  with  it.
Well  i  have  actively  been  in  this  hobby   for  the  past  5  years,  but  have  been  a  fish  enthusiast  for  as  long  as  i  can  remember.  I  am  currently  having  a  nano  tank  setup  from  the  past  7  months  here  in  Bangalore  (due  to  limited  space)  and  a  full  fledged  3X1.5X1.5  at  my  house  in  Mangalore.  My  interest  include  aquascaping  and  among  fishes  i  am  very  fond  of  angels  and  disus.
After  going  through  the  vast  resources  available  here  i  have  gained  enough  confidence  to  take  up  my  pet  project  of  converting  my  50g  tank  into  a  completely  planted  setup.

Guys  keep  up  the  good  work  and  wish  you  all  happy  fishkeeping.   Very Happy
