 Dear  Friends....

I  have  been  silence  observe  to  this  wealth  of  knowledge  known  as  IAH......Now  I  think  I  have  some  thing  to  share.....

I  have  a  heavily  planted  tank  setup(You  have  to  search  Fishes  yourself!!!!!!!)  with  low  maintance  stuff....Although  I  have  plants  like  following...

 Plants:
 Anubia  Sp.
 Red  Cabomba
 Green  Cabomba
 Giant  Hygro
 Wisteria  (Hygrophilia  Difformis)
 Red  Cryptocoryne  Wendtii
 Banana  Plant  (Nymphoides  aquatica)
 Java  Fern
 Bacopa
 Giant  Vallisneria
 Sword  -  Amazon

 Life:
4           Blue  Ram  (Keep  Breeding  All  the  time)
2           Golden  Ram  (Keep  Breeding  All  the  time)
 4           Serpae  Tetra
 1    Zebra  Loach
 1    Common  Pleco
 2   Black  Widow
 3   Black  Neon
 4           Black  Phantom
 4    Lemon  Tetra
 5    Redeye  Tetra
 5           Golden  Pencilfish
 2           Neon  Rainbow

I  agree  it's  over  stocked  but  there  few  from  my  friend's  tank  and  he  is  gone  on  vacation  so  I  have  to  keep  them.....And  I  don't  have  space  and  also  my  wife  and  mom  will  get  definitely  angry  on  another  tank....

I  do  50  %  water  change  every  sunday...No  Filter  apart  from  Power  Filter...(DIY  Filter  is  in  process)...But  it  seems  my  live  stock  are  pretty  happy.....They  keep  themselves  in  to  the  forest  i  made....

I  tried  Moss  also  but  due  to  high  temperature  I  failed.....Now  trying  to  once  again  after  good  rains....Some  plants  are  doing  well  some  are  surviving  just....

 Now  to  the  point.....

I'm  trying  to  build  LED  array  with  White  and  Blue  LEDs  for  my  tank....

For  that  I'll  be  using  Acralyic  Glass  (Reflector/Mount)  ..
 The  array  will  be  having
 24  x  8==192  White  LEDs
22  x  6==132  Blue  LEDs  mixed  with  RED,  Yellow  and  Cyan....

I  will  make  circuit  for  them  to  have  24  LEDs  in  one  raw  connected  in  series..and  with  switching  I  can  use  them  for  creating  DAWN/DUSK  effect  also  with  dimmers....

The  reflector  is  24  x  10  inches  long...
I'm  panning  to  execute  the  DIY  in  two  phase...

In  Phase  I  -  I  will  use  only  white  LEDs  and  some  Blue,  and  later  on  in  Phase  II  i  will  put  Blue  and  other  COLORS  once  the  switching  circuit  R  &  D  is  over...

I  had  already  made  an  array  of  20  x  8  White  LEDs  and  tried  in  my  aquarium  for  a  month  and  results  were  good...Now  I'm  de-assembling  this  one  to  create  large  array  with  more  LEDs  and  color  spectrum....I  have  powered  this  smalled  array  with  Nokia  Charger  and  it  went  very  well...

Unfortunately  The  place  where  I  live(Jamnagar-Gujarat)  doesn't  have  much  to  choose  in  LEDs  types  and  vendors,  also  I  don't  get  any  kind  of  plants  apart  from  once  a  year  Anubia  or  Amazon  sword.....No  variety  are  sold  here...So  I  prefer  to  catch  some  wild  plants  also...

I  will  keep  posting  the  updates  and  also  some  pictures  on  tanks  and  setup  along  with  LED  array..........

Note:  I  had  registered  myself  in  gallery  but  I  still  don't  know  how  to  access  or  upload  the  pictures...

Some  Pictures  of  my  Older  setup  is  here

 Dear  Madan  and  Kaushik...

    Thanks  for  your  valuable  input....

What  exactly  I'm  trying  to  do  is  make  it  easily  affordable  and  available  at  local  shop....I  can  go  for  CREE  LEDs  which  are  one  of  the  best  LEDs  in  world...

But  Rather  then  buying  for  internet  I  want  to  make  it  complete  DIY  at  Home  and  definitely  in  your  local  Cities...I  think  not  everyone  is  living  in  mega  cities  ..So  I  want  to  stick  to  whats  available  with  me...and  with  your  help...

 Regards

I  am  in  touch  with  Osram  regarding  these  very  High  lumen  LED.

I  mailed  them  this  morning  and  there  was  a  prompt  reply  by  e-mail  and  a  tel  call  in  1  hour.

The  local  Osram  LED  Systems  manager  is  mailing  me  detailed  product  specifications.  I'll  update  here  very  soon.

Apparently  one  module  costs  Rs.1800  and  then  there  is  a  power  unit.  Let  me  get  the  specs  and  I'll  post  in  detail.

 Hi

I  contacted  ledindia.com  via  email(sales@ledindia.com)  and  here  is  what  they  say,

Price  is  Rs.850  for  single  module  measuring  160mmx84mm

Additional  modules  can  be  added  in  series

 TN  Dealer:
 -------------
 Naga  Sathi  Agencies-
 (0421)  2246056

Also  it  seems  that  this  product  was  approved  By  SBI  for  their  energy  efficient  ATMs...Not  sure  if  they  already  have  these  installed  in  their  ATMs

Same  here  I  finally  got  through  to  them  on  telephone.  The  guy  at  the  other  end  was  helpful.  They  have  no  dealers  in  Bangalore,  but  will  ship  the  fittings  to  by  courier  directly.  Payment  by  Bank  account  transfer  or  DD.

I  am  trying  out  these  fittings,  I  will  update  results  in  due  course.

 Dear  Friends....

Here  is  draft  expense  I  did  on  my  earlier  LED  array........

 LEDs  200  White  ==  200  x  2  Rs.  ==  400  Rs.  (Whole  sell  price)

Power  Supply  ==  Old  Nokia  Charger.....

 Scrap  Acralyic  sheets

And  the  result  i  think  you  had  seen......

I  am  sure  that  we  can  build  very  good  array  with  just  1500  /-  Rs.  to  feet  my  2.5  Feet  new  Community  Tank(3  months  old).....

High  Lumen  LEDs  are  available  but  above  all  it  has  some  heat  problem  and  you  have  to  mount  them  on  heat  sink....For  longer  run  says  6  hours  a  day  at  full  power.....You  are  talking  about  huge  heat  load..I  don't  think  so  without  heatsink  we  can  use  this  LEDs....

But  only  thing  I'm  worried  about  is  powering  up  this  large  LED  array  of  mine.....As  I  have  very  limited  nowledge  in  DIY  electronics..So  I  would  ask  help  from  other  fellow  IAHians  who  have  knowledge  in  electronics....

 Regards

sir  your  old  nokia  charger  workers  for  2  to  4  LEDs  maximum  not   200  LEDs  .  you  must  need  separate  power  supply.  Because  the  nokia  charger  outputs  only  800  mA.  at  least  you   need  2  Amps(I  am  not  sure  more  power  also  needed  depends  upon  the  power  conception  of  LEDs)  of  power  supply  for  that  setup..  any  way  all  the  best   Thumb Up
then  if  use  Large  LED  means  better  use  CPU  fan  also  it  dissipates  more  Heat.
