 Hi  All,

Got  this  beautiful  pair  of  breeding  angels  from  Anthony  a  week  ago  and  they  have  bred  in  my  community  tank.
In  the  last  week  I  had  most  of  my  half  beaks  jumping  out  due  to  their  aggression.  Only  yesterday  did  I  notice  the  eggs  and  since  they  have  bred  the  first  time,  I  thought  that  they  might  eat  their  eggs  till  the  time  they  become  true  parents.  To  my  surprise  the  eggs  hatched  and  could  see  the  wrigglers  today  morning.  As  the  eggs  were  laid  on  the  intake  of  HOB  most  of  the  wrigglers  were  sucked  through  it.
Hence,  I  stopped  the  HOB  and  scarped  the  wrigglers  into  the  breeding  net.
 Queries
 1. Is  it  ok  to  raise  the  fry  in  the  breeding  nest  for  some  time?
 2. IMO  I  should  start  feeding  once  they  have  no  egg  sack  anymore.  Is  this  correct?
I  know  that  I  should  have  moved  them  to  a  new  tank  for  breeding  but  as  I  didn’t  have  a  spare  tank  I  had  left  them  there.

 Regards,
 Surya

Personally,  I  hate  the  net  type  fry  holders  in  community  settings.  Very  easy  for  other  fish  to  turn  the  eggs/fry  into  jelly  in  their  attempts  to  eat  them.

Either  use  a  rigid  plastic  fry  trap  or  make  one  out  of  a  tupperware  container.

 @  surya
you  can  do  one  thing....take  some  water, from  the  tank  of  the  parents,  in  another  tank  or  in  a  big  bowl.1  mug  water  change  is  ok.  it  will  not  harm  the  babies.     Smile

Thank  you  Sudhir,  Nanu,  Seetharam,  Kaushik,Ajit,  Deepak,  Shameek  .

Rahul:  Thank  you  for  your  valuable  advice.  You  are  right  on  advising  me  to  use  a  plastic  tray.  I  guess  I  have  lost  all  the  fry  due  to  the  breeding  net.  Cant  see  a  fry  now.  Realy  dissappointed.  Had  I  seen  your  post  much  earlier,  I  would  have  saved  the  fry.

Nanu:  Yes  its  realy  a  pleasure  to  see  the  fry  and  was  over  confident  on  raising  the  fry.  Guess  will  wait  for  the  next  batch  and  will  do  the  right  thing  in  raising  the  fry.

I  once  again  thank  all  of  you  for  your  valuable  advice  .

 regards,
 Surya

 @surya
very  sad  news  Crying or Very sad
but  don't  lose  hope.  take  much  more  care  for  the  next  time  Smile
you  can  separate  that  pair  in  another  tank  and  do  water  change  regularly
you  can  give  them  a  slab  of  slate  rock  for  spawning.

 Hi  Shameek,

Thank  you  for  the  advice.  Will  do  the  same.  Have  to  clean  an  old  tank  which  I  got  today  and  get  a  sponge  filter.

 Regards,
 Surya

 Sorry  about  that  Surya.
Once  they  have  spawned  I  hope  that  it  will  not  be  long  before  they
 do  it  again.  Good  luck.

sorry  about  the  fry's  surya,  but  dont  worry  i'm  positive  they  will  spawn  in  another  20-25  days....  this  was  the  sixth  time  they  have  spawned  and  they  are  very  good  parents...  I  was  not  as  lucky  as  you  are,  snails  used  to  eat  all  the  eggs  before  they  could  hatch   Crying or Very sad

I'm  glad  that  the  pair  is  with  you,  they  have  found  a  better  home....  good  luck  for  the  next  batch
