 Hi  Nayak,

I  have  been  thinking  of  the  competition  but  seriously  will  need  to  look  for  a  good  professional  photographer,  and  that  is  going  to  be  a  hell  of  a  lot  of  time  and  money.

As  our  own  official  photographer  par  excellence  Mr  Trevor   is  out  of  town  we  will  have  to  wait   a  little  while  for  photos  here.

Nitin  making  this  tank  will  cost  a  bit  of  money,  I  personally  feel  the  time  and  energy  that  goes  into  it   is  far  more  valuable.(  you  are  welcome  to  PM  me  for  the  prices)

 Hi,

Thanks  for  updating  however  it  would  be  really  nice  if  you  could  click  some  photos  with  normal  lighting  as  all  the  pics  on  this  tread  have  not  displayed  the  tanks  to  its  fullest   Smile

Nice  piece  of  wood...I  bet  it  is  not  economical,  unless  found  in  wilderness..What  plants  are  you  guys,  planning  on?  Intrigued..

You  must  be  joking.  That  wood  is  free  and  so  are  the  rocks,  the  gravel  and  laterite.  Coming  back  to  the  wood  that  just  a  piece  of  root  found  lying  on  the  banks  of  our  river  Cauvery.

For  those  who  wish  to  avoid  even  this  little  ADA  soil  substrate  expenditure  can  go  through  this.

 Trevor  Sir,
Cool  project!!  the  wood  is  simply  fantastic!!!  Quite  anxious  to  see  the  next  stage.
Since  I  am  a  newbie,  just  wanted  to  know  that  how  can  the  rotting  of  wood  be  controlled?  I  have  observed  that  over  time  the  color  of  water  changes  and  also  it  develops  a  "foul  smell"  when  wook  is  kept  immersed  in  water  for  long.
How  do  we  manage  it  in  aquarium?  Do  you  suggest  keeping  wood  in  aquarium  with  fishes?

Looking  for  advice  from  all  seniors  and  experts.

 Thanks
 Preet

 Sandeep,

Let  me  answer  your  question  on  behalf  of  Trevor,

There  is  no  hard  and  fast  rule  as  to  which  plant  has  to  be  planted  when.  But  for  practical  reasons  like
 1.  If  you  plant  tall  plants  first  with  little  water  the  plants  tend  to  fall  over  and  obstruct  you  from  planting  mid  ground  or  fore  ground  plants.
 2.  if  you  increase  the  water  level  to  keep  the  tall  plants  from  falling  over,  it  will  again  be  difficult  to  plant  mid  and  fore  ground  plants,  refraction  and  all.
Starting  with  foreground  plants  will  also  help  you  to  follow  the  layout  that  you  may  have  in  mind.

 Preet,

All  wood  lying  along  a  river  are  not  drift  wood,

How  to  treat  wood  to  use  in  an  aquarium  has  been  discussed  in  earlier  threads,

The  wood  used  in  the  tank  has  been  treated  and  was  with  me  in  a  pond  outside  for  more  than  six  months.
