Just  thought  to  start  a  Planted  Tank  Quiz  for  fun.  Rule  is  very  simple.

Will  post  a  question.  Who  will  give  the  right  answer,  he  will  ask  the  next  question.  Would  request  everyone  to  post  a  question  from  your  own  experience.   Smile

Scenario:  You  have  a  Planted  Tank  running  for  a  long  time.  Suddenly  you  thought  to  make  changes  in  the  scape  or  Plants.  So  you  just  go  ahead,  and  uprooted  all  the  plants.  Suck  out  all  the  mulm,  dirts  then  introduced  new  plants  in  your  new  scape.  But  you  didn't  change  the  Old  Substrate  or  didn't  clean  the  Filter.  From  next  day  onwards,  you  started  to  follow  your  old  routine  of  Light,  CO2  and  Dosing.

Question:  Which  algae  will  come  first?  And  Why?

ALGAE,  I  have  never  seen  algae,  people  always  talking  of  algae  whenever  they  heard  I'm  in  planted  section.  Now  thinking  of  collecting  some  algae  from  algae  experts  and  grow  them  in  a  spare  tank  to  gain  knowledge  on  them.   ROFL

Just  ten  days  into  planted  world. So  donot  have  prior  knowledge  of  practical  algae  except  for  some  hair  algae.Well  with  my  novice  knowledge  I  think  it  will  be  Blue  Green  Algae  because  of  low  nitrate  and  high  other  nutrients  probably  Phosphate.  May  be  I'm  wrong  or  perhaps  I'm  surely  wrong. But  there's  no  harm  in  trying  I  think.

brown  algae  due  to  excess  of  nutrients  in  the  water  column  after  stirring  up  the  substrate.

Marked  the  Key  point  in  BOLD.  Try  again.  :)

@Abhisek....  BG  will  thrive  in  Zero  to  Low  Nitrate  condition.  But  there  are  other  factors  which  trigger  it.  Smile

 Questions  from  Algae  King   ROFL

Very  nice  thread  Tirtha,  just  that  you  could  have  started  with  something  more  positive  than  algae.   Chuckle

I  think  It  will  be  surely  Green  hair  Algae,  cause  the  plants  will  not  be  in  a  position  to  function  from  the  day  one  as  they  need  time  to  settle  down  and  adjust  to  the  new  condition  hence  the  algae  will  rule  initially.

But  then  I  am  no  algae  expert.   Chuckle

Green  Slime  Algae  or  other  algae  that  forms  a  bio  flim.  Usually  these  are  present  in  the  substrate  and  gets  kicked  up  only  to  settle  down  on  plants  or  hardscape.

Yet  to  get  the  correct  answer.   Very Happy  Will  wait  for  some  more  time  before  I  give  the  answer.

Dev....  Think  why  we  get  Hair  algae.  Is  the  scenario  satisfying  the  reason?  And  always  we  should  start  from  our  pain  area.  Isn't  it?   Very Happy
