Just  yeasterday,  I  was  arguing  with  my  parents  about  fishes  having  any  senses.  I  say  fishes  also  have  all  the  six  senses.

The  most  common  senses  we  have  are

 1.  Touch
 2.  Hear
 3.  Taste
 4.  Smell
 5.  Sight

and  the  sixth  1  which  people  normally  do  not  mention  or  forget  is  the  gods  gift  of  MEMORY-  The  best  reaction  of  all  6  sense  will  be  surely  seen  in  DIscus.

 Everyone  has  six  senses-

I  think  the  sixth  sense  in  fish  is  its  ability  to  react  to  natural  calamities.  This  ability  is  seen  in  all  animals.  They're  like  early  warning  systems.

I  haven't  seen  it  in  my  fish.  But  I  know  fish  get  hyper  active  an  would  migrate.  This  is  in  the  case  of  the  wild.  In  birds,  they  fly  in  the  opposite  direction  of  calamities.  And  canines  start  howling  and  get  hyperactive.

I  remember  reading  about  animals  reactions  towards  the  tsunami  which  hit  India  years  ago.  It  included  fish  and  how  it  reacted  before  the  tsunami  hit  India.  I  lost  that  article  or  I  couldve  shared  it.

I  had  kept  Discus  for  about  5  years  and  I  was  feeding  them  with  my  own  hands  sometimes.  I  gave  them  away  to  my  firends.  When  I  visited  my  friends  once,  the  Discus  lurked  as  soon  as  they  saw  me.  I  simply  took  freeze  dried  worms  again  in  my  hand  and  Fed  them,  they  remembered  me  Smile

I  had  2  red  bellied  piranha  which  I  had  reared  with  2  tinfoils,  from  the  time  they  were  thumbnails  sized.
They  used  to  eat  food  out  of  my  hands.  all  the  four  of  them  grew  to  be  around  6  inches  and  were  still
eating  food  from  my  hands.  But  if  anyone  else  dipped  their  fingers  or  hands  inside  the  tank,  they  were  sure  to  take  a  nip  of  the  fingers.
Now  what  caused  this  I  dont  know.  Did  they  recognise  me???
 only  god  can  say

 Fishes  have  long  term  memory.
 www.howfishbehave.ca/pdf/Long-term%20memory.pdf
In  addition,  they  also  can  sense  electric  currents  (electroception),  and  have  pressure  detection  and  water  current  detection  senses.

I  will  have  to  disagree  a  bit.  once  i  had  grown  a  beard  and  my  fish  refused  to  recognize  me  and  eat.  then  a  friend  suggested  i  hold  a  clean  shaven  photo  of  myself  in  front  of  my  face  while  feeding  them  and  voila  they  started  eating.  So  when  i  went  for  a  vacation  i  used  tell  a  family  member  to  do  the  same  while  feeding  them  (hold  a  photograph  of  me  in  front  of  their  face).  But  i  have  to  travel  very  often  for  work  so  i  got  a  mask  of  my  face  made.  Now  whoever  feeds  my  fish  while  i'm  away  has  to  wear  that  mask  otherwise  the  fish  refuse  to  eat.

Nearly  all  animals  have  these  five  senses,  there  would  be  very  few  exceptions  and  that  too  in  less  developed  animals.
It  is  another  matter  that  some  senses  are  more  developed  in  some  species  than  others.

Dddheep-  I  must  disagree  to  that.  Not  all  fish  have  a  long  term  memory  power.  Goldfish  have  a  memory  power  of  just  few  seconds.  @gorothmaan  sorry.  I  know  you  love  goldies.  Smile
