Hi everyone,
I am starting this thread because sai wont be able to do it as he wasnt there on the collection trip(missed a lot of fun sai).
here is the story
We all met at jasmine and left for sainikpuriat around 6:30am.
Caught up with mitra at nerdemet X roads.
then all of us started for the lake and reached there at around 7:00am
The people present were
1)Debarghya,
2)Saad,
3)Mitra,
4)Satish,
5)Luqman,
6)Mudassir.
7)Abhinav.
From left, Satish,Debharghya,Luqman,Mudassir.
People at Neredmet X roads.
First we surveyed the entire lake.
Then we caught some Gambusias.
some channas, a lot of shrimps,a few tilapia and the prize catch of the trip were
Pencil fishes.

From Saad Ali-
It was immensely wonderful......
My day started with Luqmans call at 5:59 a.m. asking for the address to the proposed meeting place, dunno what i told him, maybe i mislead him.... sorry for that buddy couldn't help it because i was out of sleep since the last 4 days.
then the next call was mitra, he too woke up then we decided to let the other guys go ahead and we would join them later..
then it was Debs turn.... he kindly told me that they will wait till I reach there....
again I get Luqmaans call asking the address... again no help as usual...hehe!!!!
Next moment i was flying on my bike and reached the site in 15 mins as promised to Deb.
guys who were already waiting were Deb, Luqman, Mudassir, Satish from there we went nedermet crossroads to pickup mitra... again we fly to glory and finally reach this place which at first glance looked like some deserted land where water stagnated and used as a downloading spot....lol
surveyed the whole area then started fishging...
Deb,Satish,Mitra,Mudassir.
our SHIKAARI potta aka Mudassir was the first to net Gambusia and boy was everyone was enjoying it???
the came another sweet surprise....
CHANNA......only one initially
Then much more----
Then we moved on to another spot found SHRIMP and more shrimp and more shrimp.
some bugs
whats that???YUK,Saad any ID?
The next moment we could see Mudassir and Deb knee deep deciding upon a stategy to net those elusive Pencil fish[Barbs]. finally the struck some good idea and alas a bunch full of PENCIL right in our bags... whoa!!!!!!!!!
We hunted in these waters for a very long time indeed. Here we found SHRIMP, CHANNA, and PENCILS.
Next was another pond where we netted huge number of tilapia fry.The same technique by which the PENCILS were netted.
plant collection was done.. not much of plants though.
hyg.polysperma?
Saad with his catch-
Every one

The Channa looks mostly like a Channa micropeltes.Guessing that based on the dark color

C. micropeltes at that size would have a bright red streak down its lateral length.
I'd put my money either on punctata or striata. Not sure though. |

Totally agree with you Madan, Navaneeth is the best best pant roller there is in the business.
Great to know that guys from other cities are taking an initiative,
Good work guys, thanks for sharing.
Note: when collecting and packing plants do not keep water in the packet, pack the plants without water and seal the packet.
Hope to see more

The humidity inside the "sealed" packet will keep the plants from drying out. |

Just put a couple of pieces of wet newspaper in the bag if you're concerned about the heat. |
