 The  first  biotope  we  hit-

The  mysterious  channa  was  caught  around  300-400  metres  from  this  spot.

This  was  the  stream  behind  our  lodge-

 The  team  in  action

The  team  leader  with  his  weapon  of  choice   Chuckle

The  fish  and  chicken  at  Hotel  Capitol,  is  one  of  the  most  memorable  meals  of  my  life.
A  proper  square  meal  after  living  on  junk  for  48  hours  Very Happy

April27th-2005

After  locating  E.canarensis  we  made  our  way  to  Subramanya.

We  finally  met  Joe  and  requested  him  to  help  us.  We  assured  him  of  Rs200/-  for  helping  us  as  well  as  a  net  we  had  purchased  earlier  in  the  day.  On  being  asked  by  him  what  to  do  with  fishes  caught  in  the  net  we  told  him  to  release  them  back.  At  this  there  was  a  sharp  retort  in  Malayalam  from  his  better  half.  His  sheepish  grin  said  it  all  Chuckle

Forget  the  stupid  city  guys.  If  you  so  much  as  comeback  empty  handed  after  going  fishing  you  will  not  be  served  dinner  ROFL

What  followed  was  one  of  the  most  beautiful  sights  in  my  life.  The  trees  were  covered  with  fireflies  and  looked  like  Christmas.  The  crickets  were  chirping  and  the  frogs  croaking.  The  sky  was  clear  and  you  could  see  a  million  stars.  In  that  environment  we  were  fishing  using  an  old  lantern.  We  caught  a  few  fishes  (danios  and  Puntius  species),  but  none  that  we  desired.

Dropping  joe  along  with  his  catch  we  made  our  way  back  to  Subramanya.
 Regards,
 Nayak.

Oops  Lawrence,  I  think  Trevor  was  the  first  one  to  do  night  fishing  Smile
But  yes,  definitely  this  is  the  first  detailed  under-water  Video  documented  trip.

 Regards,
 Nayak.

Agree  with  Marc.  That  why  one  of  the  drunkards  on  the  trip  should  carry  atleast  a  bottle  of  Vodka.  I  do  carry  on  my  trips   Drinking
