This is Deformed discus . There is no discus like tail-less or heart shaped or cut fins etc .
|
Of course I know that, I just described it like that...just didn't want to call it "deformed" |

Wondering how it is living without its Tail !!! But nice colours..
|
At first even I had this doubt, will it be able to swim properly, live long etc. But it is doing fine, just like a normal fish. |

Cull for some Cute for others.
Breeders do get such without tail heart-shaped offspring once in a while. However they do not carry genes to pass such odd shape to their brood unlike Bulldog-shaped discus. |

Some Bulldog Discus (Standing Egg) breeding pairs carry genes to produce similar odd-shaped brood.
Coming back to your discus, you have nicely raised this Pigeon Checkerboard chap.
Did you notice anything different with regards to its swimming mode? |

Yogesh, good piece of info on Bulldog Discus, & for letting me know my Dicus's strain...thanks.
I can't distinguish it's swimming compared to others, it swims normal. I should've taken video of it when it was small, it stood out from others, used to explore the whole tank and was very active compared to the "normal" ones - it reminded me of how the marine butterfly fish swims. |
