Its  been  quite  a  long  time  I  have  posted  in  this  thread.

There  were  quite  a  lots  of  transformations  in  the  scape  in  this  tank.  After  having  the  tank  with  lots  and  lots  of  stem  plants,  it  was  becoming  too  difficult  to  maintain  the  tank.

Rotalla  green  and  red  grew  like  crazy  and  every  two  weeks  I  have  to  trim  them.  The  stems  split  into  two  twigs  after  a  trim.  So  with  the  extensive  trimming  in  every  2-3  weeks,  the  plants  were  growing  very  dense  at  the  top  wherein  the  light  was  not  reaching  the  beneath.  Finally  the  bottom  stems  were  left  only  with  stem  and  no  leaves.

So  finally  decided  to  strip  down  the  tank  and  change  the  scape  with  driftwood  and  stones.  I  had  ADA  Nile  sand  which  was  gifted  by  my  friend.  So  decided  to  have  the  front  substrate  as  Nile  sand.  The  intention  was  to  have  lots  of  open  space  in  the  front.

 Let  the  pictures  speak.

All  the  driftwoods  are  placed  on  top  of  the  laterite  rocks.  All  the  driftwoods  were  sealed  using  silicon.

After  sealing  the  driftwood,  the  silicon  was  left  for  a  day  to  heal.  Once  the  silicon  was  healed,  the  top  was  covered  with  ada  soil.  And  the  front  side  was  completely  filled  with  ADA  Nile  sand.

ADA  yamaya  rocks  kept  as  a  boundary  between  the  nile  sand  and  ada  amazonia  soil.

 More  pics

Glosso  started  growing  in  the  nile  sand.

Completely  covered  the  front  side  of  the  tank.  Nile  sand  being  inert  soil,  I  was  dosing  more  fertilizers  so  that  the  glosso  can  grow  well  by  taking  the  nutrients  from  the  water  column.

I  started  loosing  bolbities  during  the  summer  season.  Leaves  stem  started  turning  black  and  eventually  melting.  Everyday,  I  was  trimming  atleast  5-10  leaves.  Finally  I  was  left  only  with  the  rhizomes.

And  I  had  the  CO2  tank  empty  for  more  than  3  weeks  time  and  glosso  started  melting.  Had  to  finally  pull  out  the  entire  glosso  from  the  tank.

In  addition,  I  lost  all  the  bolbities  and  was  left  only  with  needle  leaf  java  fern.

Very  beautiful  and  well  thought  of.
Nice  to  see  swimming  space  for  fishes  as  well.
Try  a  black  background  or  check  with  black  chart  paper  for  temporary  testing  in  case  if  you  have  not  tried  earlier.

 regards

True...  I  actually  didnt  have  intention  to  grow  gloss  as  a  full  carpet  area.  I  wanted  only  some  small  strands  growing  towards  the  front  of  the  tank.  But  the  growth  was  wild  and  I  couldnt  control  its  growth  that  it  spread  the  entire  carpet  area.

 @  Wads,

 Thanks...   Smile

 Shelly  Sir,

The  only  one  word  "Beautiful"  came  in  my  mind  after  reading  this  post.  Once  I  started  to  read  this  thread  ,  I  read  till  last.

 Thanks
