Controsoil  performane  is  satisfactory  I  suppose.  How  do  you  rate  ?

 Thanks  Rana.

The  algae  is  green  slimy  stuff  on  the  rocks  and  on  the  soil  which  was  wet  when  I  grew  the  HC  emersed.  The  taiwan  moss  is  still  there  in  the  tank.  How  did  you  miss  it?

The  controsoil  is  performing  well.  Its  almost  been  a  month  after  immersed  state  and  I  havent  dosed  the  tank  yet.

 Hey  Prem

The  tank  has  shaped  up  well  ,  A  small  suggestion  from  my  end

 1.  On  the  right  hand  side  ,  at  the  back  why  dont  you  go  in  for  Blyxa  Japonica,  it  will  give  a  beautiful  backdrop.
 2.  Keep  the  CO2  BPS  high  (  4-5  )  for  a  month  till  the  Cuba  settles  down  and  covers  all  remaining  space.
 3.  You  will  need  to  keep  up  with  trimming,  below  is  an  experience  i  faced  with  my  Cuba  Carpet  ,  thought  will  share  this  with  you

Initially  for  a  month  after  filling  the  tank  i  kept  high  light  and  high  CO2  ,  the  Cuba  settled  in  well  and  grew  extremely  fast.  I  had  to  keep  up  with  trimming  and  its  a  royal  PITA  trimming  Cuba.  Then  i  cut  down  on  lights  and  CO2  ,  Cuba  does  fine  in  lowlight  as  well  ,  but  grows  slower.  This  kept  the  tank  in  a  good  shape  for  a  while  with  not  much  trimming  to  be  done,  after  i  started  to  keep  CRS  in  that  tank  i  never  trimmed  the  tank,  the  carpet  is  around  1  -  1.5  Inch  thick  and  NOW  i  see  the  base  rotting  and  the  entire  carpet  trying  to  come  up.  For  me  its  time  to  pull  it  out  and  replant  .

Ok,  so  to  sum  it  up  ,  what  i  wanted  to  tell  is  that,  if  you  let  your  cuba  carpet  get  too  thick  you  might  face  the  same  problem  as  mine,  so  keep  up  with  the  trimming   Smile

Prem...  superb  growth  you  have  got  there.   Congrats!!  But  one  thing  I  must  say  you.  this  scape  is  not  for  stems.  they  will  not  fit  in.  I  would  go  for  only  vivipara  as  back  ground.  here  your  focus  is  on  the  rocks,  not  on  the  BG  plants.

Thanks  Seetharam  for  your  inputs!  The  background  had  Blyxa  Japonica  which  I  removed  due  to  a  severe  algae  attack  and  replaced  them  temporarily  with  Rottalla.

Will  keep  up  with  the  triming.  I  usually  dont  keep  my  tanks  for  a  very  long  time.  I  should  stick  with  this  scape  for  a  max  a  year  or  may  be  less  and  will  change  it.

Thanks  Tirtha!  Your  right  I  had  blyxa  there,  I  am  not  a  great  fan  of  vivipara.  I  removed  them  due  to  some  algae  issues,  eventually  they  will  be  replaced  with  Blyxa.

Thanks  Bappa!  Yes  it  is,  it  was  rescued  from  Ashwins  tank  and  am  looking  for  a  good  home  for  it.  The  most  agressive  angel  i  have  ever  seen.

 very  beautiful  work  Prem   Smile

suggest  you  remove  all  the  plants  in  the  left  hand  corner  right  up  to  the  blyxa  and  let  the  HC  cover  up  that  space

is  the  round  rock  on  the  right  hand  side  going  to  be  there  or  you  intend  to  cover  it  with  moss  ?

how  would  the  controsoil  compare  with  ADA  AS  II   since  you  have  used  both?

Thanks  Rupak.  The  plants  in  the  right  corner  will  be  removed  as  soon  as  I  am  able  to  get  the  little  bit  of  algae  left.

The  round  rock  has  a  fissidens  tied  on  it.  ADA  is  for  sure  better  in  terms  of  rate  of  growth  compared  to  Contro  soil.  I  prefer  contro  for  smaller  tanks  so  its  easier  to  deal  with  algae  and  it  allows  more  time  to  sit  and  enjoy  the  tank  than  to  keep  prunning  the  plants  quiet  often.
