 Lovely  pic  Nayak!

 Abstract  from  Original  Paper:

Caudal  peduncle  is  slightly  deeper  than  the  body  hence  the  name  "altipedunculata.   Posterior  nostril  prolonged  into  a  tube  with  pointed  tip  longer  than  most  Schisturas.   Color  pattern  yellowish  with  10-12  bands.   The  interspace  between  the  bands  are  about  as  broad  as  the  stripes  unline  interspace  thinner  than  the  stripe  in  similar  looking  S.  denisonii.   Also  differs  from  most  Schisturas  by  having  a  longer  dorsal  fin.

I  could  count  9  dorsal  rays  from  Nayak's  picture.   In  such  a  case  this  should  be  the  second  species  with  more  than  8  dorsal  rays  next  to  Longischistura  striata  and  may  be  someone  should  be  placing  it  in  Longischistura  sometime.

 Proudly  presenting  The  Puntius  coorgensis

Caught  in  Jan2012,  I  have  two  of  them  with  me.  Extremely  shy,  they  share  their  tank  with  Dario  urops.  No  spawning  behaviour  yet,  since  I  think  both  of  them  are  Males  Sad

True  Very Happy  But  slowly  one  by  one  they  are  becoming  common.  Pethia  manipurensis  has  already  been  bred  by  Marc  and  Deepak(Random2).  One  of  the  objectives  of  the  group  set  by  you  "  The  Fishchasers".

Do  you  have  any  idea  about  their  any  common  or  local  name!!

Abhis9,  all  these  fishes  were  caught  by  us.  I  am  sure  you  have  gone  through  our  threads  in  "Fish  collection  and  habitat  study"  sub-forums.  Other  than  one  or  two  of  us  who  have  them  alive,  they  are  only  found  "preserved  in  absolute  Alcohol"  with  ZSI.  The  Idea  is  to  keep  them,  observe  their  behaviour  and  try  to  spawn  them  to  share  with  fellow  hobbyists  Very Happy

Natives  are  not  all  that  difficult  to  keep,  if  certain  conditions  are  met.  We  have  shared  them  with  many  hobbyists.  But  not  many  takers  were  successful  except  for  a  handful  of  hobbyists.  The  key  is  patience  and  to  follow  basic  fishkeeping  principles  observed  and  shared  by  us.  Recently  I  shared  F1  of  yellow  Aplocheilus  blockii  with  a  fellow  hobbyist,  with  clear  instructions  to  have  the  tank  covered  completely.  A  observation  not  fully  acted  upon,  and  by  next  day  all  the  Killies  were  dry  on  the  floor.  Well,  accidents  do  happen  and  those  fellow  hobbyists  are  going  to  learn  and  grow  in  the  hobby,  which  they  already  have   Very Happy

BTW,  were  you  able  to  get  E.canarensis  from  the  contacts  I  had  pm'ed  you?

 Regards,
