 Hi  all,
 Me  and  Humaid,  plan  to  do  this  collection  trip  the  coming  weekend.  We  will  have  2  days  for  the  actual  collecting  part,(remaining  time  spent  travelling  :S)
 As  of  now,  the  plan  is  to  Cover  brackish  water  spots  around  Karwar  for  the  first  day,after  which  we  might  do  some  part  of  the  road  to  Kadra.  From  what  Humaid  tells  me,Karwar-Kadra  route  is  actually  a  circle.  We  plan  to  cover  the  whole  circle  in  2  days.
 Dont  plan  to  bring  back  much  from  the  trip  myself,  so  it  will  mostly  be  collect,  photograph,  some  observations  regarding  the  biotope  and  release  Smile

 Any  pointers  from  the  seniors  will  be  really  helpful  Smile

 We  didn't  have  time  to  cover  Karwar.   We  wen't  till  Kumta  and  came  across  quite  a  few  brackish  lagoons.   Have  nylon  nets,  as  with  brackish  biotopes,  ordinary  mosquito  net  could  hardly  withstand  one  drag  and  always  wear  good  footwear  inside  water  because  there  are  stuff  out  there  which  could  slice  your  foot.   Would  be  better  if  you  could  make  it  in  low  tide  and  even  though  you  wouldn't  be  able  to  catch  any  yourself,  you  will  come  across  fishermen  who  will  be  more  than  happy  if  you  want  to  photograph  their  catch.
 If  you  come  across  any  Mystus  which  resembles  like  a  guilo,  try  taking  a  photograh  of  its  head  and  the  skull  part  and  probably  you  would  come  across  A.  parvus  in  brackish  conditions  and  may  be  Microphis  and  other  pipefishes.
 Have  a  great  trip!   Thumb Up

 Hi,
   How  did  I  miss  this?

 Shubhankar,
 Madhu  has  covered  it  pretty  much.  Keep  an  eye  out  for  the  Killies.  Also  for  the  Macrobrachiums  and  shrimps.

 Hello  people...
 Just  reached  Pune  after  an  extremely  Exahusting  trip...  Couldnt  help  but  log  on  to  IAH   Chuckle
 Anyway  yesterdays  collection  was  a  huge  success,  caught  some  nice  Puntius  sp.
 Will  come  up  with  a  report  ASAP,waiting  for  Humaid  to  reach  Pune,  as  he  was  the  photographer  for  the  trip...

 @Abhiram
 Thanks  for  posting  the  update.  We  got  E.Suratensis  everywhere  we  tried,  fresh  as  well  as  brackish  water...

 @Mudassir
 I  havent  got  any  fish  back,although  Humaid  will  be  getting  some  back  for  himself.
 We  avoided  getting  back  too  many  fish,  and  at  the  end  of  the  trip,  Humaid  is  getting  only  2  bags.  For  a  major  part  of  the  trip,  it  was  catch  and  relese,  to  avoid  unnecessary  mortality...

 @Nayak
 Caught  tonnes  of  macrobrachiums,  wood  shrimps  ,  killies  Smile...

 Managed  to  click  only  1  pic  through  my  crappy  cell  phone  camera

 Found  some  more  huge  Puntius  filamentosus,  half  beaks  and  some  Macrobrachium  sp.  at  dudhsagar  in  Goa  today.   Sadly  was  not  carrying  any  nets  today.     Sad
