no  lfs  guys  collect  it  from  the  drainage  or  sewers, contact  your  local  horticulture  department  or  agricultural  dept  ,  lfs  earth  worms  will  contain  tape  worms  harmfull  to  u  and  your  fish,

the  mixture  of  leaves  etc  should  atleast  be  a  foot  thick  and  should  always  be  cool  in  a  shady  place, temp  wont  affect  them  but  should  be  moist
if  the  agricultural  dept  doest  help  ,go  hunt  them  in  your  garden  and  feilds  in  your  place  ,  they  are  always  found  near  slush

so  i  can  start  this  culture  right  now  even  when  the  temp  is  hovering  arnd  3-8  in  delhi.

and  one  last  question  can  i  keep  it  outdoors.

You  can  get  earthworms  from  the  University  of  Agricultural  Sciences,  Bangalore,  but  you  will  have  to  undergo  a  course  for  that.
Prof.  Radhe  Kale  is  the  person  in  charge.

You  could  go  there  and  surreptitiously  buy  a  couple  of  Kgs  of  large  worms  to  start  your  culture  from  some  of  the  staff.

the  compost  generates  heat  ,  if  it  is  2-3  centigrade  ,i  think  u  should  have  a  more  thicker  layer  of  the  mixture  about  1.5  thick  or  more,

there  is  one  simple  solution  for  your  question,  r  u  able  to  find  live  earth  worms  in  your  soil  now  ,  then  they  will  survive  in  your  culture  also,  other  wise  contact  your  local  agriculture  sceince  dept  this  will  guide  u  properly

@  madan-  will  they  sale  it  commercially  ?,  if  we  want  4  kgs  or  more

You'll  have  to  go  find  out,  many  years  ago  it  was  available  from  the  staff  there.

I  never  thought  of  harvesting  any  earthworms  because  there  were  plenty  in  my  backyard   Chuckle
One  query  i  have  though  is  that  if  earthworms  are  harvested  in  cow  dung, wont  they  be  harmful  for  the  fishes   Shocked
