 Hi  guys,
I  am  making  a  hood  inspired  by  hood  design  from  Hoa  G.  Nguyen.
I  have  made  some  changes.  The  original  design  is  available  at
 http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/diy_canopy2.php

The  blue  dots  are  CFL  holders.
Will  the  holes  on  top  allow  heat  &  water  vapours  to  go  out
 Comments  please?
I  am  not  very  familiar  with  copyright  issues.  I  hope  by  acknowledging  original  author  is  okay.  If  not  kindly  let  me  know?

 Hi!  Sandeep,

What  is  the  size  of  your  tank?  The  holes  on  the  top  of  your  hood  will  not  be  enough  to  ensure  that  the  heat  generated  by  the  lights  gets  dissipated.  Moreover,  you  stay  in  Lucknow  where  the  temp.  in  summers  really  shoots  up.  Better  to  have  a  open  top  kind  of  hood.

BTW,  why  are  using  CFLs,  go  for  PLLs  you  will  have  better  results  as  well  as  less  recurring  cost.

 Regards,

 Hi  Nag
I  have  already  mailed  a  request  to  the  author  for  his  permission.
In  case  I  do  not  receive  it  in  one  week  I  will  delete  the  picture  Very Happy
A  copy  of  mail  is  as  follows
 Dear  Sir,
I  like  your  hood  design  very  much.
I  live  in  India  where  summers  get  very  hot.
Therefore  I  have  made  a  few  changes  in  your  model,  a  copy  of  which  in  attached  with  this  file.  Your  name  is  acknowledged  in  the  picture.
I  do  not  have  much  experience  with  aquariums  so  I  want  to  post  this  picture  in  your  local  club's  website  which  is  a  purely  non  commercial  website.  This  way  I  can  get  input  of  other  members
I  would  very  much  like  to  have  your  approval  for  the  same.

 Thanking  you  in  anticipation.

Tank  one-  2ftX1ftXift,  heavily  planted, livebrearers,  mollies,  swordtails,  platys,  two  philips  CFL  20W,  7800K
Tank  Two  -  3ft  X  1.5ftX  1.5Ft,  Goldfish  tank,  lightlly  planted,  low  lights,  plants  not  doing  great,  increase  to  4-  20w  CFL  as  above

The  carpenter  has  suggested  ventilator  like  angled  bars  instead  of  solid  top.
Open  top  is  not  safe.  Have  small  kids  and  house  is  surrounded  by  garden  on  three  sides  lots  of  small  animals  Very Happy

What  are  PLLs  ?,  How  are  they  cheaper  than  CFL
 Thanks
