 Guppies!  Very Happy
I  dont  think  they  will  get  affected  by  the  paint,  much.  You  can  put  in  5-6  of  them  in  there.

Any  fish  will  eat  larve  and  the  cheapest  one  is  guppy.   Guppies  multiply  very  fast  and  forget  the  crows  they  will  get  tired  of  eating  guppies.   Chuckle

IMO,  crows  are  much  more  scavengers  than  predators.  Even  if  the  guppies  are  easy  target,  they  lack  the  skill  to  hunt.  Only  if  the  guppies  themselves  go  into  their  beaks  ,  then  only  they  will  eat  them.

keeping  guppies  in  there  is  bit  cruel.
if  keeping  guppies  in  there  you  would  have  maintain  it  with  aeration  and  water  change'
any  ways  water  change  or  aeration  will  discourage  fly  breeding,  flies  breed  only  in  still  waters
if  it  is  under  sun  guppies  would  die  due  to  temperature  rise

i  agree  with  the  last  line  on  Emmanuel.  temperature  is  your  biggest  problem.  about  guppies,  do  not  take  a  fancy  guppy  as  they  will  not  be  so  hardy.  but  still  i  guess  guppies  won't  stay  alive  for  long.

Once  the  water  clears  up  and  after  a  few  water  changes  then  you  think  of  adding  fishes.  You  could  try  keeping  in  a  shaded  spot  receiving  diffused  sunlight.  But  why  a  metallic  container?  It  heats  up  more  easily,   is'nt  it?

 hi  pandian

I  have  a  similar  outdoor  pond  .  there  are  guppies  in  there  and  they  are  thriving  ,  i  never  needed  to  feed  them  in  the  beginning  as  there  was  plenty  of  mosquito  larvae  ,  but  in  a  few  days  the  guppies  finished  them  all  ,  and  they  also  started  breeding  like  crazy  and  hence  the  food  is  not  enough  ,  and  they  need  to  be  fed  regularly  .
Shade  is  very  important  for  the  guppies  as  well  as  the  water  itself  as  if  the  pond  is  in  direct  sunlight  ,  you  will  have  green  water  in  no  time  and  will  never  be  able  to  see  any  fish  after  that.

i  dont  think  temp  is  a  big  problem,  i  have  just  2  inches  of  water   with  lilly  and  the  guppies  are  thriving  and  breeding  ,i  have  kept  them  in  roof  top  where  sunlight  is  superheavy,  they  feed  on  algae  yet  they  breed,  i  dont  feed  em  at  all,  i  have  kept  local  guppies  as  they  r  hardier

hii  pandianG.  am  new  to  iah,  but  i  have  kept  similar  outdoor  containers/ponds  for  abt  4-5  years.
i  would  like  to  tell  you  a  few  things:
 1.  go  for  a  plastic  tub  instead  of  a  metal  container  as  metal  heats  up  quickly....one  advantage  of  metal  container  is  that  it  also  cools  quickly.  but  heat  is  the  problem.
 2.  guppies  are  the  best  fish  to  keep  in  such  containers.
 3.  regular  feeding  is  not  a  must.  only  if  u  intend  to  increase  the  number  of  fish,  then  u  must  feed  them  regularly.  i  feed  my  fish  max  2  timed  in  a  week  just  to  ensure  that  they  don't  starve  to  death.
 4.  no  aeration  is  required  in  such  ponds  as  enough  oxygen  from  the  air  gets  dissolved  in  the  water  daily.
 5.  to  provide  some  shade  to  your  fish,  cover  about  1/4th  of  the  container  using  a  wooden  plank  or  stick  a  scale  to  a  cloth  and  then  cover  the  container.  but  the  wooden  plank  is  the  better  option.
 6.  crows  are  not  a  problem  to  the  pond  till  they  dont  destroy  the  plant  leaves.
 7.  it  is  also  advisable  to  add  a  few  stems  of  cocamba  plant  or  even  amboli  plat,  as  the  guppies  can  also  feed  on  these  plants......
