 Dear  friends,
I  have  started  planted  aquarium  from  Nov.2012
 My  tank  size  is  79cm  L  x  38cm  W  X  43cm  H.  (31"  x  15"  x  17")
I  am  using  Canister  Filter  External  Boyu  EFU-10.
Is  Boyu  EFU-10  is  sufficient  for  my  planted  tank
Otherwise  Now  I  want  to  go  for  EHEIM.
 Please  suggest  me.

 Regards

This  canister  is  small  for  your  tank  size.  You  can  look  at  going  in  for  a  Eheim  2215

If  you  can  then  a  2217  will  be  better  since  it  has  more  flow  which  will  be  better  for  the  plants  as  it  helps  in  better  CO2  and  fertilizer  distribution.

2215  is  the  best  choice,  2217  will  be  too  much

my  suggestion  is  to  just  add  a  small  power  head(i  saw  one  in  boyu  which  is  the  size  of  a  3  pin  plug  for  3xx).  It  will  add  the  extraflow  u  require.  Why  to  waste  more  money  when  you  alredy  have  a  canister  which  is  having  flowrate  of  5x  tank  capacity.hust  add  this  powerhead  for  more  flow.  This  power  head  will  not  mix  oxygen  to  the  tank  as  it  is  not  taking  air  through  an  airline  as  others  and  pumping  it,  but  just  takes  in  water  and  pushes  out

 +1  jabba.
You  have  a  relatively  smaller  tank  and  I  don't  think  you  require  two  canisters.  Canisters  are  all  overpriced.  Eheim  is  all  good  quality  and  all  the  blah  blah  but  the  question  is  why  waste  money  on  it  if  you  already  got  one.  I  had  a  overrated  canister  which  was  half  the  price  of  the  Eheim  and  was  perfect.  Well  people  might  argue  that  the  power  consumption  is  less,  gph  is  accurate  and  stuff  but  then  it  will  take  a  decade  to  make  up  the  savings  in  electricity  costs.  If  you  need  circulation,  go  for  a  powerhead  (get  a  better  quality  one  like  sicci  which  is  cheaper  and  efficient).  I  had  a  4  footer  with  just  this  overrated  canister  and  it  was  doing  its  job  perfectly(Not  to  mention,  the  messy  cichlids).
Having  said  all  that,  if  you  have  the  extra  money  go  for  another  canister(need  not  be  Eheim).  You  never  loose  in  over  filtration.  You  looking  for  quality,  go  for  Eheim.  Its  neat  ,sturdy  and  costly:).  A  big  powerhead  inside  a  small  tank  might  not  be  the  best  thing  to  look  at.  Canisters  are  much  more  neat  in  that  aspect.  I  would  suggest  use  your  own  judgement  in  deciding  based  on  the  facts.

Personally  i  did  not  have  good  experience  with  boyu  filters,  be  it  internal  or  canister  but  then  you  already  have  it  so  let  it  run.
Also  what  was  the  reason  that  you  started  thinking  about  adding  another  filter  or  may  be  replacing  it  with  another?  do  you  see  any  issues  with  te  filtration  or  the  setup?

I  have  used  an  Eheim  2213  for  almost  similar  sized  tank  (30x15x15),  my  avatar  pic  is  the  same  tank,  however  you  will  have  to  clean  the  filter  media  more  often.  I  am  using  the  same  canister  for  my  new  setup  which  is  18x14x14  with  a  spray  bar  and  its  just  doing  fine  however  now  i  have  to  clean  the  media  rarely   Smile.
you  can  use  Eheim  2215  and  a  2217  (with  the  spray  bar)  and  they  will  just  do  fine,  one  significant  advantage  would  be  that  you  will  have  to  clean  the  media  less  often.
If  you  consider  2217  then  i  would  suggest  you  look  at  the  alternate  which  is  SUNSUN  HW-302  which  is  of  same  output,  probably  almost  half  the  price  of  2217  and  believe  me  one  of  the  best  filters  i  have  used  so  far....its  silent  then  Eheim  and  is  keeping  my  4  ft  tanks  water  pristine  from  last  1  and  half  years.

You  also  have  options  with  Dophin  filter  (http://www.kwzone.com/products/links/filters.htm)
 C500  (approx  500l/h)  &  C700  (approx  700l/h)  -  again  a  much  cheaper  and  reliable  option.
all  of  the  above  canister's  spare  parts  are  mostly  available  as  well.

My  personal  choice  for  your  tank  size  -  Eheim  2215  /  Dophin  C700
