 hi!!  guys,
 I  am  planning  for  a  6'10"  x  2.7'  x  4'  feet  aquarium  at  my  friends  farm  house.This  would  be  a  one  sided  glass  aquarium.The  cavity  inside  the  wall  has  already  been  made    and  the  size  is
 6'10"=l
 2.7'=w
 5.3'=h
 Now  considering  the  lighting  fixtures  ,the  size  of  wood(marine  wood),space  for  the  filter  to  be  keptn  ohter  fixtures  could  someone  tell  me  as  to  what  would  be  the  appropriate    size  that  one  should  consider.We  are  considering  options  like  marine  wood  for  this  tank.As  for  the  filter  we  hav  are  minds  on  the  eheim  2260.Another  important  information  that  i  would  like  to  tell  you  is  its  not  a  marine  tank  nor  is  it  a  planted  tank.This  is  going  to  be  a  fresh  water  tank.i  would  be  posting  the  pictures  of  the  cavity  to  make  things  look  more  realistic.
                                                                                           yours  avinash.

 Good  that  you  have  started  a  topic.
 Height  should  be  reduced  to  2.5  feet.  That  will  leave  some  space  on  the  top.  Secondly  4'  planted  wull  be  a  nightmare  for  lighting.  Even  MH  will  find  it  difficult  to  penetrate.  With  the  volume  that  you  are  proposing  you  will  require  1.2  KW  of  lighting  for  planted  aquarium.  Please  consider  this  point.  You  can  redo  the  civil  structure.  It  would  be  cheaper  that  way.

 mr  kelkar  u  may  have  missed  out  on  my  point.This  would  not  be  a  planted  tank.it  would  be  a    fresh  water  tank.

 I  stand  corrected.  Still  you  need  to  reduce  the  height,  in  the  event  you  do  not  have  clearance  on  the  top.

 Madanji  the  expert  i  hope  we  can  get  started  with  one.

 Nash,
 This  topic  had  already  been  described  in  Top  10  stories  by  Madanji.
 But  since  nobody  is  throwing  light  on  this  repead  topic  of  yours  dont  mind.

 For  4'  height  and  6'10"  length  therotically  the  thickness  of  glass  reqired  will  be  33mm,  which  is  not  avilable  across  the  shelf.
 One  of  your  option  will  be  to  use  tempered  glass  of  suitable  thickness  @  15mm.  (Not  advisable  practically)  Tempered  glass  if  breaks  may  blast  without  any  warning  causing  danger  to  life.

 It  is  beter  you  consult  some  expert  befor  starting  this  tank,  As  suggested  by  Mr.  Kelkar  try  reducing  the  height.  He  had  built  a  all  glass  similar  tank,  with  4'.  I  suppose  he  has  used  15mm  glass.

 Water  volume  will  be  2600  lts.  It  is  going  to  be  a  massive  tank,
 Fixing  glass  on  conceret  is  not  a  easy  task,  as  suggested  by  Madanji  earlier  you  may  have  to  build  a  angle  frame  to  fix  the  suitable  glass.

 Use  of  silicone  is  another  important  consideration  you  will  have  to  use  glass  to  metal  silicone.  Wacker  WS  621.

 Filteration  will  be  another  consideration,  Simply  useing  eheim  2260  is  not  going  to  keep  the  water  clean  unless  you  recycle  the  tank.

 Even  if  you  are  using  Marine  ply  Varnish  it  properly  from  all  sides  to  prevent  decay.
 Bansal.

 Madanji  could  you  tell  me  as  to  how  marine  ply  i  would    be  needing  for  this  tank  and  as  to  what  thickness  should  i  be  ordering.Since  i  do  not  want  to  waste  any  time  and  order  the  material.

 the  tank  size  that  i  have  decided  on  is
 6.9=length
 2.6=width
 2.5=height(as  suggested  by  mr  kelkar)
 and  the  glass  i  would  be  ordering  19mm  of  normal  glass.

 Just  confirme  that  the  filter  would  be  behind  this  cavity..(inside  the  hall)..important  thing  being  it  would  be  above  the  water  level.
