There  are  a  few  mixes  for  DIY  substrate  like...
 Peat+laterite
humus+peat+laterite(am  using  this  in  my  tank  currently)
 peat+bonemeal+laterite
 soilrite+laterite  etc

 where  can  i  find  them?
 1.  peat
 2.  soilrite

Ask  Tirtha  da  or  Rajiv  or  other  prominent  members  from  Delhi  side,  they'll  sure  guide  you  to  the  source.

 @yaza...

I  am  using  cocopeat  humus  and  laterite  in  ratio  of  1:1:5.  Easy  measure  can  be  a  mug,  a  mugful  of  peat  and  humus  for  every  5  mugs  of  laterite.

Take  some  good  quality  brick  for  peat  and  for  humus,  there  are  different  kinds  of  humus  available,  I  cant  say  if  all  these  are  usable.  The  one  am  using  is  soft  powder  type  dark  colored  peat,  do  confirm  from  experienced  if  you  are  taking  this.

Best  if  you  can  source  out  soilrite,  AFAIK  its  a  mix  of  some  peat  and  humus  and  other  nutrient  rich  material.

Thats  an  interesting  piece  of  wood,  but  looks  challenging  to  scape,  goodluck!

Thanks  for  inputs  and  giving  insight  into  the  planted  and  aqua  scape.
Targeting  for  a  scape  but  it  may  turn  out  into  combination  of  both.

Out  of  my  busy  work  schedules,  could  not  spend  much  time  on  my  tank...  Sad   Sad

But  here  are  the  new  updates  Thumbs Up  ,

   -  Got  white  sand  (they  call  it  sugar  )  one  bag  full
   -  got  40kgs  of  laterite
   -  some  black  sand  also  for  decoration  and  some  stones  and  pebbles

Also  I  started  procuring  plants,  driftwood  and  fishes  too  ...

I  made  a  small  (1ftx1ft)  tank  for  keeping  the  live  stock  ....  and  its  surprising  that  this  also  turned  up  to  a  nice  tank   Smile   ...

 Pick  attached.

You  can  got  Soilrite  and  cocopeat  soil  from  Kaka  Nagar,  DDA  market.  It  is  opposite  to  Delhi  Zoo.
 Latarite  is  available  at  Indiapetsstore.

Boss,  the  problem  with  your  lighting  is  that  most  of  it  is  being  waste  out  side  the  tank,  more  over  normal  tube  lights  are  most  inefficient  to  grow  plants,  considering  this  the  wattage  is  not  up  to  the  required  level...
better  get  T5  tubes  for  the  same  wattage...  you  buy  6nos,  2  feet  T5  tubes  in  21w  range  (open  type),  with  colour  rating  of  65k  4  nos  &  around  4k  2nos,  make  canopy  covering  the  tank  so  that  lights  dont  fall  out  of  the  tank  with  some  reflectors  if  possible....  This  will  give  a  good  medium  level  lighting  for  growing  plants.
Pls  Others  can  correct  me  if  wrong....
 Best  of  luck!
