All  pictures  (and  videos)  I  had  seen  of  the  sp.  Assam  were  in  dimly  lit  tanks  with  lots  of  cover.Had  I  seen  that  pic  before,  I  would  have  definitely  got  all  the  half-dozen  sp.  Assam  specimen  the  store  had.  (They  don't  have  these  in  their  store  any  more.  I  will  check  again  this  weekend  and  inquire  if  they  have  it  in  some  storage  facility.)

 Sid,

these  guys  look  very  good  in  a  heaviliy  planted  biotope  setup.  I  have  mine  currently  in  a  tank  full  of  plants  and  the  ground  is  full  of  leaves  (jackfruit  and  badam).  Lots  of  hiding  space,  but  since  these  guys  are  in  the  process  of  pairing  up  and  fighting  with  each  other,  this  is  defintily  required.

I  also  noticed  that  the  colour  really  gets  stunning  if  they  are  kept  in  darker  conditions,  if  kept  to  brightly  they  will  look  quite  dull.

Hope  that  helps.  Heard  quite  a  few  times  that  this  species  and  the  bleheris  are  considered  quite  rare  and  are  under  the  risk  of  becoming  extinct,  cannot  check  that  in  person,  but  that  should  be  incentive  enough  to  breed  them  ;-0

 Regards

 ben

 Hey,

one  more  thing  that  I  noticed.  Change  their  water  or  anything  in  the  tank  and  they  get  shy  and  lose  colour,  hahaha.

Anyways,  some  pics  of  my  bigger  guys.  One  is  much  larger  than  the  others,  but  I  am  hopeful  it's  a  female,  at  least  the  other  two  guys  are  trying  to  pursue  her  (and  get  beaten  up  as  result  :-)
