@Amaey:  Thanks  a  lot  for  your  kind  offer.  I  will  be  waiting  for  them  to  grow.

@vyas:  Are  you  becoming  a  Moss  master.  You  banglore  guys  are  really  lucky  to  have  such  a  nice  weather.  Here  we  have  only  5  months  to  keep  out  tank  cool.  Sad

 Hi  tirtha,

It  is  indeed  an  expensive  moss.  As  mentioned  by  Deepak,  I  did  pick  the  same  last  year  but  did  manage  to  grow  it.  Had  learnt  the  hard  way  to  grow  out  this  bugger.  It  requires  high  light  and  cool  water  for  it  to  grow.

At  present  I'm  trying  to  grow  it  emersed.  Can  see  new  sprouts.

I  guess  this  moss  must  be  cost  effective  if  can  get  it  sourced  from  Singapore.  Vyas  would  be  able  to  shed  more  light  on  this.

 Regards,
 Surya

Thanks  Surya  for  your  inputs.  It  will  be  great  if  you  can  share  your  experience  in  details(Lights,  Temp,  CO2,  Dose  etc  etc).  It  can  be  a  good  tutorial  for  all  of  us  who  will  start  with  Fissiden.

 Hi  Tirtha,

Not  really  sure  with  light.  Moss  is  just  floating  on  a  tray  under  regular  CFL's  of  18,  20  watts  respectively.  Currently  using  DIY  co2  and  the  bubbles  are  released  just  under  the  tray.  temp,  of  the  tank  is  between  24-  26  degree  and  no  dosing  at  present....  At  times  i  just  drop  a  pinch  of  potassiun  nitrate  in  the  tray.

Not  sure  if  this  would  help.  Atanu  will  be  the  best  person  to  shed  more  light  on  this.

 Regards,
 Surya

Fissiden  fontanus  emersed  I  think  is  not  possible,  as  they  say  its  a  true  aquatic  moss.  However  it  does  grow  better  if  kept  under  high  light  and  cool  water.  Any  moss  or  liverwart..  i  guess  grows  very  well  if  you  can  keep  it  near  the  juncture  of  water  and  air.  For  me  I  have  a  series  of  plastic  trays  which  floats  on  the  water  surface  and  I  experiment  with  any  moss  which  I  have  a  doubt  that  it  may  not  survive  in  the  tank.

Fissidens  is  very  slow  growing  so  you  do  need  lot  of  patience..  however  said  that  I  was  able  to  fill  a  5  inch  *  5  inch  tray  with  fissidens  from  whatever  I  got  from  Deepak(this  is  with  my  Siamese  algae  eater  regularly  munching  on  the  fissidens).  A  portion  of  it  went  into  my  new  tank,  and  the  rest  is  again  spread  out  on  the  entire  area  of  the  tray..  so  that  they  can  fill  up  the  empty  space  quickly.

I  dose  my  tank  with  EI  method  with  regular  water  change  every  weekend.  Other  than  that  I  do  not  do  anything  special.

Tirth,  i  would  say  get  onto  ebay  and  find  one  of  the  guys  who  is  selling  it.  They  are  not  that  expensive  so  just  get  on  and  they  will  ship  it  for  free  sometimes.  One  guys  shop  is  by  the  name  of  Aquaticmagic  i  think.  I  have  some  with  me  here,  got  it  free  from  a  friend  in  Singapore.  Dont  know  where  is  it,  because  the  Ph  is  too  low  for  it  i  think  in  my  tanks.  My  tanks  have  a  Ph  of  4.5
