Amod....  I  didnt  put  any  support  glass  at  top  middle.  But  put  4  bottom  support  channels  and  two  Side  supports  at  top.

I  will  not  put  any  kind  of  hood.   Thumb Down   Will  lay  5  T5  HO  with  Reflectors  on  top.  May  be  will  make  a  wooden  holder  to  fix  the  light.  Here  in  Gurgaon....  hood  will  be  a  killer  at  summer  for  planted  tanks.

 Hi  Tirthankar,

Congrats  for  the  new  setup.  But  I  think  the  side  supports  will  give  you  trouble  later  when  you  will  be  going  for  a  canister  filter.

There  is  no  change  in  the  tank.  It's  sitting  idle,  as  am  running  out  of  my  Aquaium  Funds.  Sad

probably  will  take  couple  of  more  months  to  start.  I  am  making  myself  happy  with,  setting  up  a  small  tank  now  a  days.   Drinking

I  have  added  MH  stand,  to  my  old  aquarium  Stand.  Before  adding  MH  stand  to  the  existing  system  I  had  couple  of  points  in  mind.

#1  As  the  tank  is  sitting  on  my  drawingroom,  I  need  a  slick  and  simple  design.

#2  I  am  staying  at  a  rented  apartment,  so  I  need  something  which  can  be  dismantled  easily  into  pieces.

So  based  on  these  thoughts,  I  made  the  stand  into  4  pieces  and  everything  can  be  attached  within  5  min  using  8  Nut  and  bolts.  The  stand  is  having  2  L  Shaped  angle  and  2  straight  L  beam.  Lets  take  a  look  at  the  pictures.

Front  View.  The  MH  will  be  sitting  1feet  above  of  the  water  surface.

Side  View.  MH  can  be  moved  horizontaly  based  on  the  requirement  through  the  Base  rails.

MH  base  strips  attached  to  the  L  angles  with  bolts.

The  L  Angles  bolted  with  the  main  aquarium  stand  with  Bolts.  (Inner  and  outer  view)

The  fixture  made  with  25x25x3  L  Beams.  Cost  of  L  Beam  is  700/-  and  300/-  for  welding  machine  rent.  1000/-,  it's  over.

That's  a  neat  setup  Tirtha.  I  was  looking  for  something  similar  to  mount  my  MH's.  What  is  it  that  you've  placed  on  your  tank?  Is  it  a  kind  of  light  diffuser?

 Tartha,

You  should   get  the  whole  thing  sanded  with  emery  sheet  perfectly  so  all  jagged  edges  would  be  gone.  You  should  then  powder  coat  the  whole  thing.  Will  look  real  cool.

Or,  you  could  also  do  the  sanding  and  then  add  a  coat  of  primer,  two  coats  of  Yellow  Chromide,  and  then  2  or  3  coats  of  paint.

Believe  me,  your  wife  will  be  happier.  [Of  course  you  will  get  thrown  out  if  you  try  to  do  the  paint  job  yourself,  esp  inside  the  house!]

Setup  Looks  Good  Tirtha  .....  Aparth  from  the  paint  Job  a  small  suggestion  from  my  end,  try  replacing  those  Blue  &  Red  wires  with  Black  Wires  and  then  Tape  them  to  the  L  Beeding  ,  it  will  conceal  it  well  and  setup  will  look  more  neat.

Are  you  getting  the  plants  this  weekend?

On  this  point  I  will  beat  you.  Wife  will  be  more  than  happy  if  I  do  it  by  my  own.  Cause  in  past  I  did  couple  of  same  types  of  painting  job  without  messing  up  the  home.  Razz  Painting  is  pending  for  this  weekend.

Sir....  will  do  this.  Let  me  first  complete  the  painting.  Then  will  hide  the  wires.  Not  this  weekend,  plants  will  be  here  next  weekend.

Why  Didnt  you  use   slotted  angle  L  beams  instead?  and  cover  them  with  those  silver  tapes  or  colored  tapes,  My  setup  is  almost  same  with  12mm  glass..

Per  Running  feet  of  Slotted  L  beam  will  cost  you  more  than  a  running  feet  of  a  normal  L  angel.  Samething  will  happen  even  if  you  are  getting  them  in  KG.
