 Hi  All,

I  am  a  Mumbai  Resident,  facing  problem  with  My  Oscar  fishes.  ihave

My  Tank  has  a  power  filter  fitted

 1.  recently  my  tiger  oscar's  had  developed  patches  on  their  Skin  but  they  were  very  much  active  but  still  as  it  looked  like  a  rash  i  had  them  removed  in  a  seperate  tank  and  treatd  them  with  terramycin  now  this  eems  to  have  worked  good  with  one  but  with  on  of  the  fish  the  rash  still  prevails  would  u  still  want  me  to  treat  them  once  again  with  the  medicene.

 3.  recently  after  the  water  change  found  that  the  artificial  trees  that  i  have  in  my  tank  have  this  white  colored  thread  like  formation  on  them...  what  would  that  be....

 Manya,

Need  your  tank  size/dimensions  immly..  Let  us  also  know  the  decor  you  have  used..  so  that  we  get  the  effective  swimming  space...
Also  let  us  know  what  is  the  capacity  of  the  power  filter?  Apart  from  Power  what  other  filtration  you  use...
What  is  your  WC  schedule  and  how  much?  What  is  the  feed?

I  have  a  strong  feeling  that  you  are  heavily  overstocked..  which  rapidly  deteriorates  your  water  quality.  You  also  have  an  infection  spreading  in  your  tank..

 Regards,
 Subhankar

Your  tanks  are  too  small  for  oscars,  and  that  is  only  reason  for  yur  oscars  falling  ill.
Tank  is  decided  on  adult  size  of  fish,  a  single  oscar  needs  50  g  of  water  i.e  3x1.5x2,  a  pair  of  oscas  will  need  even  larger  tanks.
Either  change  the  fish  or  upgrade  to  large  tanks.

No  more  fish.  You  will  need  to  upgrade  for  a  bigger  tank  for  your  Oscars.

Edit:  Sorry,  I  mistook  your  point  for  tank-mates  with  Oscars.  You  may  opt  for  something  like  Convicts  or  Salvini  cichlid.

carry  out  50%  WC  every  week  or  twice  a  week  if  possible.  This  will  keep  the  oscars  in  better  shape  till  you  get  that  bigger  tank.  Still  even  that  tank  will  be  too  samll  for  your  oscars.

I  have  mine  with  similar  sized  green  terrors  and  severums  in  a  135Gal  tank.

Guys  the  tank  size  tht  i  am  looking  forth  to  buy  is  3  ft  length  x  2  ft  height  x  1.5  ft  Width....  do  you  think  that  this  tank  can  sustain  2  pair  of  oscars

Secondly  if  i  plan  to  make  it  a  complete  chichlid  variety  tank  (excluding  Oscars)  i  would  like  to  have  atleast  7  fishes  in  my  tank  what  would  be  the  species  you  would  recommend.....

Is  it  going  to  be  just  7  fishes  or  7  varieties  of  fish?

A  group  of  7  fronts  will  need  atleast  a  100  gallon  tank  whereas  a  group  of  7  shell  dwellers  need  only  a  15G  !!
