Zebra  Danios------  Pink  color  Zebras---------Spawnned.   Cheering

Yesterday  night  there  was  a  slight  Drizzle  and  suddenly  the  breeding  program  which  was  in  pause  mode  shifted  towards  play  mode  Thumbs Up  .
I  am  rearing  some  of  the  fishes  for  breeding..  .the  list  are  Tiger  Barbs,  BA  tetra,  Zebra  Danio(pink),  Gouramis(from  my  last  year's  batch)and  Gold(from  my  last  year's  batch).
I  thought  I  would  try  with  the  gourami  but  when  i  went  near  the  tank...  I  decided  it  will  difficult  to  catch  it  now  in  the  dark  in  a  heavily  planted  tank.  I  saw  the  Danios  resting  in  the  plant  ..  then  I  decided  to  go  with  Zebras  as  it  will  be  easier  to  catch.  Smile
I  have  been  raising  two  Zebras  pink  color  ones  for  more  than  a  year  now.
First  i  bought  a  male  and  then  i  bought  a  female.....  and  they  were  in  my  community  tank...The  female  always  looks  like  ripe.  I  was  thinking  of  having  a   breeding  tank  for  them  to  spawn...  I  built  a  2x1x1  breeding  tank...  but  i  didn't  use  it  till  now  Smile  .....  yesterday  i  cleared  up  my  cement  tank  and  planned  to  let  them  there..  .I  started  filling  the  tank  with  the  marbles  which  i  have  already  bought  a  year  ago(for  breeding  rosy  barbs..which  didn't  go  well   Sad  )..  The  marbles  covered  around  70%  of  the  tank  area...  I  had  few  spawning  mops  with  me  ...  I  put  them  in  the  tank  as  well..  let  the  fish  in  an  1.5  inch  high  water  and  It  was  almost  11.P.M.  I  went  to  bed  thinking  of  getting  up  early  to  see  the  eggs..  I  got  up  early  at  5.30  and  took  the  Torch  light  and  just  saw  them  they  were  Zipping  and  the  male  was  chasing  the  female...  I  couldn't  see  the  eggs  Sad  ...  then  added  half  a  bucket  of  water.  I  went  to  get  ready  and  then  came  back  to  see  them  at  7.30   now  the  sun  is  shinning  bright  at  the  tank...  wow  i  could  see  them  very  clearly  ...  they  both  seeing  me  just  hid  for  some  time  and  then  male  came  there  chasing  the  female  and  i  could  see  them  lay  the  eggs  Cheering  ...  I  left  them  till  afternoon,  then  I  moved  them  to  the  community  tank  ...I  again  had  a  look  at  the  tank  to  see  if  the  eggs  are  there........hurray..there  are  some  eggs  in  the  corner  of  the  tank  in  the  glass...around  20  are  there  and  there  will  be  some  more  in  between  the  marbles(  I  hope)..  My  doubts  are
I  have  read  some  where  that  these  colored  Danios  are  normally  infertile.
I  am  waiting  with  fingers  crossed.  (need  to  wait  till  tomorrow)
Does  anybody  has  already  breed  and  raised  these  danios?
your  help  would  be  great,  thanks  in  advance.

Eagerly  waiting...  but  eggs  are  vanishing   Sad  and  the  tank  is  full  of  Mosquito  larvae  Crying or Very sad  ..  I  am  not  sure  whether  i  will  find  any  fries  Sad
If  this  doesn't  go  well  this  time  ....  need  to  try  next  time  after  feeding  them  with  more  live  foods.  Smile

due  to  constant  breeding  of  the  pin  danios,
they  have  started  to  produce  fertile  eggs,
so  you  dont  need  to  worry  about  it,
feed  the  fry  on  green  water  or  infusoria  for  the  first  week,
use  a  clump  of  java  moss  as  a  spawning  bed  for  the  fish,
you  can  expect  around  150-200  eggs  or  fry,
leave  a  few  mosquito  larvae  in  the  tank  for  the  breeding  pair  to  use  as  fod,
and  feed  the  others  to  other  fish,or  else  you  tank  will  become  a  breeding  ground  for  mosquitoes,  which  no  one  wants
 good  luck  breeding
send  me  a  few  fry   Cheer

I  believe  that  some  guys  are  special  when  it  comes  to  breeding.  Some  like  me,  the  fishes  will  never  breed.  :-)

Thank  you  Debarghya,Mudassir  and  Gokul,  I  think  your  wishes  has  made  me  to  succeed.
I  don't  know  the  right  count  now,  but  i  have  seen  around  five  fries  now  on  top  of  the  marbles  Cheering  .
My  problem  is  the  mosquito  larvae  now  they  are  quite  big  when  compared  to  the  danio  fries.
I  have  a  doubt,  will  they  eat  the  fries?

Thanks  buddy  for  the  very  informative  info.
but  mosquito  larvae  is  in  the  breeding  tank.
Should  i  catch  all  the  mosquito  larvae  now?  or  should  i  leave  them  in  the  tank  with  the  fries?
 Thanks  in  advance

I  was  just  noticing  the  fries...  they  are  little  pinkish  now......
Normally  in  fish  fry,  we  will  not  be  able  to  see  the  color  until  they  reach  a  size..
These  are  very  tiny  now  around  2.mm  but  even  in  this  size  I  could  see  the  coloration..
When  there  is  sunlight  in  the  tank  I  could  observe  some  coloration  in  them..
I  think  the  reason  being  these  fishes  are  Genetically  modified...
Also  here  is  a  photo  taken  at  night  with  White  LED  torch  light...  but  very  very  sorry  for  the  picture  quality...

Dont  know  about  that.  Got  the  regular  zebra  to  spawn  in  my  glass  tank.  And  I  was  able  to  see  the  bright  blue  line  along  the  eye  and  thru  the  body,  as  you  mentioned,  in  the  right  light.  So  I  guess  its  the  species  rather  than  Genetic  modification.  With  just  the  single  line,  almost  looked  like  small  neon/  cardinal  tetra.  Very Happy

@Johnny.........Thanks  for  the  info  Mr.Johnny,  If  you  would  not  have  posted  then  we  would  have  thought  it  was  due  to  Genetic  modification..  thanks  Thumb Up

 Thanks  for  the  info  buddy,
These  little  fishes  are  very  healthy  and  growing  fast,  some  of  them  are  even  .75cm  right  now.  I  have  planned  to  move  them  to   the  main  community  tank  soon(may  be  in  another  2  weeks  time).  As  i  wanted  this  tank  for  breeding  My  gourami.
Moreover,  do  you  know  how  much  time  it  takes  for  the  same  zebra  pair  to  spawn  again?
 Thanks  in  advance
