Please can someone tell me the cost for building an aquarium tank with size of 36X18X18 with front as extra clear glass.

Hello Guys,
I have contacted an Aquarist in Chennai to build me 3X1.5X1.5 with 8mm glass with machine pasting.
I was told that 8mm will not hold and bow and it is highly risky. But, I read and heard from some hobbyist that 8mm is good enough to manage such a tank. Tank rate quoted is 4.7K. Please need your inputs on this. |

| I would suggest to use 10 mm glass. Are you using Extra clear glass? |

Nope.. The cost is for normal glass and machine pasting.. I feel that is bit costly.. For 10mm I have been quoted with 7.2K.. That too is costly.. But I just wanted to make sure that will it not hold up.. |

Thank you Mohan.. I have checked online in many ways.. It shows like that 8mm for that size of tank is above the safety factor of 4.0..
But, it depends on the quality of the glass right and way of pasting it.. So just wanted to check the quality here in Chennai or generally in India..
If you know any contact of good aquarium makers.. please PM me..

You are using different glasses for different sides. they will have different tolerances to stress ... Hence go with 10 mm Glass.
Polishing Glass edges costs the same whether its extra clear or Normal.
Machine pasting is a scam, I have never come across a machine that builds/pastes aquariums. Walk away from the GUY telling you he is machine pasting an aquarium.
Don't get scammed into paying all money up front. Pay a small advance and rest on delivery. |
