nandy, most of the forums and articles suggested me to go for a UV. but at this point i have some other plans for my 5 footer so not ready to spend on this nano. i have plans of new set of lights, a new hood and if some thing is left a chiller then
expensive hobby lol
i already have a UV for my 5 footer which i dont use very often but its very heavy and attached to my canister.
lets wait for a week, if things go well and the green water vanishes as said by saikumar then its good. else will have to run UV on timer or else get a small UV for nano. |

Hi Jaival
I had the same problem on my tank ( green water ) and I tried the "DO AQUA BE CLEAR " and followed the instructions , and the green water cleared up in 4 days time and has never returned again.
Dont buy a UV / UV filter as you may never need to use it again. |

Jaival
I had shrimp (cherry red ) in the tank when i dosed it , and they were fine , besides this is an ADA product , so you could check on the website or ask the LFS guys about it .
It is just a phosphate binder , and so should not affect shrimp and definitely not fish.
I think copper in many forms kills shrimp , this doesn't contain it , but check the website anyway . |

very minute quantities of common salt (non-iodised salt) might help you with green water problem.
i have found it the best solution for any harmful bacteria or algae in all my tanks..hasn't harmed my FH,tetras, guppies, barbs,or any other fish.
but i cant say about shrimps.experts might comment.
If you have dense plantation betta would do,else avoid betta..it tends to mess with smaller fishes/shrimps sometimes (personal experience).
cheers. |

Hi Jaival,
Fighter + shrimps = disaster
Fighters are extremely aggressive and gobble up Shrimps.
