Hi everyone ....I am having a lionfish & sea horses and feeding them with guppies.I am staying at a place where it is difficult to find marine food or assistance from local market.Sometimes i fall short of guppies in winters, even i am having a pond for the purpose. If anyone can suggest alternate food which is easily available as they are not accepting flakes or palets etc. |

Feeder fish doesnot provide the balanced nutrition to any fishes.viz. FW or SW monsters.
Starve him & make him accept dry food. |

There is no way these would accept flakes or pellets. Mollies would do too as an alternate feed.
What are Sea Horses being fed on? |

GOD DAMN !!!!!!!
I really feel sorry for those fish.. Seahorses are endangered..
Seahorses need to be fed 3 times a day on a variety of microscopic live food, the water parameters need to be perfect otherwise they will die..
As for the lion, its gonna get stunted and will also die because of the wrong diet.. They need a variety of foods fromt he sea. Prawns, Squid, and fish would work great.. |

They love Artemia too. Certainly don't make good candidates in captivity, unless backed up with good experience. |

Very adamant fish I thought starving would do the trick.
Shanky,
I know this predator loves small fishes but my ex-office had huge pyramid like SW tank & caretakes were feeding greens to all stuff there including the lion. The fish was pretty active and grew quite big in short time. Your views on that? |

Yes, i have had success feeding them on dried sea weed. But never saw the belly bump nor i was happy with the growth rate and shape. IMO, Lionfish look very ugly with a concave belly. |

Thanks, didn't check its belly though.
They have restrictions on carrying camera mobiles, digicams & any other transferrable media in office premises otherwise I'd have clicked the snap. If I remember correctly they had couple of them. This is the only SW fish that fascinates me. |
