I have 15 goldfish fries from my 2 yrs old Goldies (Common Goldfish) . The fries are 1.5 months old. I had nearly 40 fries from this batch but now left with just 15 of them. 4 of them have grown to 1 inch with proper features of goldfish including color. But the rest of them are not much big neither the features. I keep them in a 2ft X 1ft X 1.5ft glass tank half filled, 1 inch gravel bed, 1 sponge filter, 1 areator and a rock (The young ones love to nip the rock ..... guess they eat the algae). The do 25% water change every alternate day (2 days old water with anti chlorine )
Feed them with Hikari First Bite & finely choped tubifex worms 3ice a day (all soaked in water). Clean the uneated food with in 30 mins after I put them.
One symptom that occured last week was some fishes kept swiming near the surface and died in 2 days time. Same symptom is now showing with one of the big fries. I cannot see any possible reason for these deaths and remedy to cure the infected fry. Yesterday I got a bottle of methylene blue .... but there is not mfg date nor expiry date on the bottle ....so not using the medication.
Kindly help me to keep the surviving fries alive ... especially the biggest for whom I am really sad ..... had expected this one to grow and mature.

Thanks a lot retro_gk for the suggestion.
Actually the fries are small so it becomes very difficult to analyse them. Can you please tell me how to identify flukes in fries or any link that could help.
Also would like to add .... the symptoms occcures in 1 sometimes 2 fry .... I guess if there is a rise in ammonia, all the fishes should have shown signs. So still wondering what could be the possible reasons.

This is a sure shot indication of Fluke infection, will suggest some measures for treatment, hope it helps
1)remove all fries in a tub OR keep you tank bare bottom
2)start treament with Prazi, this is supposed to be very safe for fries and very efective as well
3)change 100% water daily till the fries reach a size of 1 inch
4)feeding tubifex is good but you have to treat them before feeding them, you can find posts on cleaning tubifex on this forum.
The best looking fries are the first to die, start the treatment immediately, you should be able to save most of the remaining fishes,

increase oxygen content in the water,
or increase the aereation level,
people in the disease n cure section may be of more hlep to you

Thanks a lot Shishir,
Will try doing the same. Also it would be great if you can answer the query asked by icecube.
The tubifex I have feeding them are the dried ones. I almost powder them and soak in water from the tank for 30 mins. Should I treat thoese worms too?
Thanks to you too for the suggestion. Thats what I exactly did after seeing those symtoms. Both airstone and sponge filter are increased in aeration.
Also would implement the 100% water change and making the tank bare bottom today itself.
