Please suggest on appropriate tank size to keep a single Channa Marulius (Cobra snakehead) of about 18 inches? One of my friends is housing a 12 inch specimen in 36x15x12 tank ...
Also please advise on tank layout
the marulius grows quite fast and quite big, based on what i have read.
so a 36x15x12 will be kinda small
i keep an aurantimaculata at 13" or so, in 48"x24"x18"
the tank has sand, as i read somewhere that they dig.
for decor there is 35 kilos of driftwood, the water turns black because of all the tannins
even though they are quite tolerant about water quality they are very very messy eaters, keep on spilling food particles every where, so there is a need for some filtration, don't have to worry much about the current generated as the current gets slowed down by all the decor.
they show a great deal of character and have a nasty temperament too.
mine used to jump out if i delay putting the food in the tank, and it also flares at me if i am sitting in front and not giving it any attention especially during photo shoots of my fish

@ beta : thanks for your input. Driftwood seems to be a good idea!
@ Jib : yes, they do have a deadly temperament! my friend's marulius which I talked about literally creates a chaos at the time of feeding. I heard that they are not choosy eaters. Please let me know what you used to feed your marulius regularly?
